70 Million Reasons Why

Working together, the Global Fund partnership has saved 70 million lives since 2002. But our fight is far from finished.

Conflict, climate shocks and poverty are fueling diseases, while HIV, TB and malaria remain the world’s deadliest infectious diseases. The “70 Million Reasons Why” feature film honors the lives saved, the frontline heroes who make it possible and the urgency of reaching millions more. We can’t stop now. We won’t stop now. Together we must stop at nothing.

Social Media Message:

Why support the Global Fund? Because it works.

Because together, the Global Fund partnership has made unstoppable progress against the deadliest infectious diseases. Because it strengthens health systems. Because where you live shouldn’t determine whether you live.

Because the Global Fund partnership has saved 70 million lives.

Together, we must #StopAtNothing to end AIDS, TB and malaria.

Global Health Security

Fighting deadly infectious diseases is in all our interests.

A disease outbreak in one place can rapidly escalate into a global health crisis, with profound human and economic costs.

Investing in the fight against HIV, TB and malaria addresses a broad spectrum of major disease transmission routes with pandemic potential. Targeting these three diseases and strengthening health systems is among the most effective ways for countries to prepare for future pandemics.

The Global Fund’s Global Health Security microsite showcases how the Global Fund partnership is confronting today’s deadliest epidemics and supporting stronger health and community systems to make all countries healthier, safer and more prosperous.

Patterns of Past, Present and Promise

Across continents, cultures and generations, fabrics tell stories of identity, truth and solidarity.

Through powerful storytelling and artistic collaboration, the Global Fund is transforming this authentic symbol into a platform that elevates the voices of those leading the fight against HIV, TB and malaria.

Stories of resilience, defiance and hope are woven into uniquely designed, iconic patterns to inspire the world to stand together. To fight harder. To stop at nothing to end these diseases.

A Ritual of Resilience

Sibulele Sibaca Nomnganga | South Africa

Sibulele’s story is one of loss, love and lasting hope. Orphaned by AIDS, she became a caregiver as a child – and a fighter for change as an adult. Sibu calls on the world to renew their commitment to finally defeat HIV. We are so close, we cannot stop now.

Sibu’s story was brought to life as a pattern by artist Mbhali Manzini.

Social Media Message:

“My journey is woven into the pattern on this fabric.”

As a child, Sibu laid out her father’s pills every day. She didn’t know that he was dying of AIDS – only that his medicine mattered. Her story lives in the uniquely designed fabric she wears – pills shaped into flowers, honoring her strength.

Today, AIDS can be prevented, treated – and with sustained commitment – defeated. Together, we must #StopAtNothing to finish this fight. https://www.theglobalfund.org/en/video/2025/2025-05-02-patterns-of-past-present-promise-a-ritual-of-resilience/

Social Media Message:

Social Media Message:

“Look at this pattern. Every shape, every pill tells my story.”

Wearing her story with pride and determination, Sibu’s head wrap is more than fabric. Each pill blooming into flowers, symbolizing hope rising from loss, pain transformed into power.

See Sibu’s story: https://www.theglobalfund.org/en/video/2025/2025-05-02-patterns-of-past-present-promise-a-ritual-of-resilience/

Social Media Message:

« Regardez ce motif. Chaque forme, chaque comprimé raconte mon histoire. »
