JUNE 2024 UPDATE!

SERVANT SPOTLIGHT

THE ROSARIOS

Sergio and Ana Rosario, both 50 years old, have two sons. Originally from Mexico City, they relocated to San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato several years ago. Sergio describes his life before his conversion as "chaotic," marked by his struggle with alcoholism, which caused numerous problems. After enduring his addiction for nine years, Ana decided to separate and moved to San Miguel with their son. Despite his success in constructing industrial warehouses and earning substantial money, Sergio's life was miserable.

During their nine-month separation, Sergio traveled between San Miguel and Mexico City to see his family and provide financial support. This period made him confront the reality that his alcoholism was destroying both his life and marriage. Eventually, he and Ana decided to "give ourselves a new chance in our marriage," and Sergio moved to San Miguel to break away from his old lifestyle. However, he soon relapsed into drinking.

Not long after, Sergio and Ana were contacted by members of the Church of Christ, who invited them to a home Bible study. This invitation marked a significant turning point in Sergio's life and their marriage. In 2011, they obeyed the gospel and were baptized, embarking on a new faith journey to learn more about the Bible and true, undenominational New Testament Christianity. They faithfully attended Bible classes and worship services with the church in San Miguel and enrolled in the Biblical Institute taught by Fernando Arroyo, the Mission GTO missionary. After a year, Sergio received a scholarship to attend the main Biblical Institute in Toluca, Mexico, and two years later, both Sergio and Ana graduated with honors.

Fernando and Les Ferguson Sr. invited them to become full-time missionaries in Villagrán. They spent seven years there, sharing the gospel, baptizing many, strengthening the church, and training several men to take on spiritual leadership. Once the congregation was ready to be self-supporting, Sergio’s family moved to Ocampo in northwestern Guanajuato to begin a new mission. Despite the city's strong religious idolatry and opposition to God’s will, they successfully taught and converted two families within a year, baptizing eight people at once.

“I thank God for having mercy on me, because even though I did not consider Him for a long time, I can testify that He has never stopped showing me His great love. I’m grateful for the church of Christ in San Miguel that had the love of Christ to share with my family God’s Word which has transformed my marriage, and motivates me to proclaim all God’s Word of Truth. I also want to thank the many churches in the USA that support Mission GTO Mexico,” said Sergio.

JUNE TRIP TO GTO

JOHN & KEN

On the most recent June Mission GTO Mexico missionary journey, Ken Forest, preacher for the Booneville MS Church of Christ, joined John Pigg for an impactful week of sharing the gospel with various mission churches. They also conducted a two-day workshop for preachers, their wives, and church leaders in Guanajuato City.

Several years ago, the Booneville church partnered with Lake Harbour, and John was thrilled that the elders sent Ken to witness firsthand the remarkable work being done in GTO. Ken not only blessed all 11 supported missionaries with his messages from God's word and personal encouragement, but his practical wisdom and preaching experience also left a significant impact.

SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP ATTENDEES

Fifty people attended the two-day spiritual leadership workshop, and four baptisms followed the Bible classes led by John and Ken. On Sunday, they worshipped with the church in the capital, where Ken taught the Bible class and John preached. Ken was eager to return to Booneville to share all that he had seen, heard, and learned.

CHANGES IN MISSION STRATEGY

Ishmael, the preacher for the church in Guanajuato City, has been traveling to Purísima del Rincón from Sunday afternoon through Monday to evangelize and plant a new church. Due to the positive response from the people, he will now extend his work through Wednesday each week. Hector, the preacher for the Pénjamo church, has been ministering in Abasolo on Sunday evenings and Thursdays for over a year with little success. Therefore, he has decided to move to Cuerámaro, where he has arranged several Bible studies. Consequently, we are temporarily relocating him there and closing the mission in Abasolo.

Additionally, we are sending Roberto, the preacher for the church in Irapuato, to Romita from Sunday through Wednesday to assist in starting a new church. Please pray that these mission changes will lead to more lost souls being taught and saved.
