Experimenting With Energy!  sixth graders discover the power of energy through interactive science experiments

Science in Action: Energy in Motion!

Our new science curriculum is off to an exciting start for sixth graders at Otselic Valley! Students recently completed their first hands-on lab exploring the concepts of kinetic and potential energy -- and had a blast bringing science to life.

Using different weights to drive a nail into a Styrofoam block, students observed how stored energy (potential energy) can be transformed into motion (kinetic energy). The experiment sparked great discussions, teamwork, and plenty of “aha” moments as students tested their predictions and recorded their results.

Their focus, curiosity, and smiles said it all -- hands-on learning is making science both engaging and unforgettable!
