Preschool/K1: Student-Led Conferences - We have been inquiring about our learning and exploring different ways to showcase it. In the last week of term, we conducted our Student-Led Conferences (SLCs), and learners were able to use their passports to travel around the stations and talk about what they have learned this term. We have been great communicators and thinkers.
Y1: Sock puppets - The students in Year 1 put their crafting skills on display by crafting their very own sock puppets that resemble themselves and their inner voice. Using materials from home, they created an array of amazing puppets, which they then used to monitor themselves during playtime on the playground. These puppets acted as a reminder to prioritise safety during play. We're thrilled to use these puppets for more engaging classroom activities in the future.
Y3: Exploring Thai culture - In Unit 3 “How we express ourselves” Year 3 went to Udon Thani Rajabhat University to explore Thai culture through performance, costumes, and traditional tales. We discovered that every movement on the stage represents each character's emotion without saying any word.
Y5: Art field tripe - Year 5 went on a field trip to look at different art works in Udon Thani and Nong Khai. We were able to talk about what the paintings were about and how the pictures made us feel. In class we are listening to, and finding out about, protest songs that were written because singers were not happy about what was happening in the world.
MY: Dissection of Pig Hearts - Year 11 has been studying the circulatory system and investigated the structure of the heart by performing a pig heart dissection. The students have also been learning about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, exercise and a balanced lifestyle in order to minimise the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD).
Student success (Y6): Well done Korwan - Since the beginning of the academic year, Korwan has taken several opportunities to express herself confidently and creatively. She has been able to showcase her skills and interests, particularly in modern and traditional dance, with the school community, as well as contribute her ideas and perspectives within the classroom. Well done Korwan!
UDIS Fun Fair - It’s back, we will be holding our second annual community fun fair on Saturday 3 February. This will be a chance to have fun as a community with free activities and food at UDIS. Save the date! More information to come soon.
