Red Dress Day serves as a painful reminder of the ongoing genocidal crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people and invites solidarity and action.

Wellington Students Volunteer at Appreciation Luncheon
On April 18, 2024, 19 Wellington Secondary Students volunteered at the annual Volunteer Nanaimo Appreciation Luncheon. These dedicated students worked tirelessly to set up, serve, and take down the event, ensuring its success. The experience gained from volunteering at events like this not only enhances their personal growth but also fosters a sense of civic responsibility.
The luncheon brought together 300 people from 16 organizations, including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Nanaimo Community Hospice, Nanaimo Community Kitchens, and Nanaimo Disability Resource Centre. The presence of guests such as Nanaimo Mayor Leonard Krog, School Trustee Tania Brzovic, and City Councillor Ian Thorpe added to the occasion's significance.
