PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family,

At St. Cecilia, we are blessed with a community of parents who seek solutions rather than dwelling on challenges. Our upcoming groundbreaking is exciting proof that time and time again, you step up to support our school, our students, and each other. Whether it’s through volunteering, offering kind words to a teacher, or finding ways to make a difference, your involvement makes all the difference.

Right now, we have three key areas where we need your help and attention:

  1. Cafeteria Balances – Please take a moment to check your cafeteria account and ensure your balance is up to date. Keeping accounts current helps our cafeteria continue providing meals efficiently for all students.
  2. Car Line Procedures – We’ve seen an increase in parents using the front parking lot for walker pickup. Please remember that this area is not to be used as a second car line. It must remain open for deliveries, emergencies, and appointments. If you are seeking a speedy pickup process, we recommend arriving at 2:55 PM, when all walker traffic and most of the car line is complete. Your cooperation helps keep dismissal smooth and safe for everyone.
  3. Bluejay Bash Volunteer Challenge – Our biggest spring event, the Bluejay Bash, is coming up on March 29, 2025, and we need your help! We are challenging every family to give just one hour of service—whether through set up, event time, or clean up. When we all work together, we can accomplish so much! Sign up to volunteer and be part of making this event a success for our school.

Thank you for your continued generosity, kindness, and willingness to be part of something bigger. Your support of St. Cecilia is felt every day, and we are grateful for all you do!

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

We need some strong individuals to help with loading/unloading tables, chairs, and ice beginning on Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon for Bluejay Bash. Please email Sheree at sprince@scsbluejays.org if you can help at any of the following times: Friday after carline at SCS, Saturday morning/afternoon at Cane Row, and Saturday afternoon at SCS.

Bluejay Bash is SIX days away and we have an important update from your 2025 Bluejay Bash co-chairs:

We are excited to welcome all of you to our Nest at the Greens next Saturday, March 29. As working parents, we know that everyone has a full schedule. Our committee has been hard at work the last few months to bring you an incredible event. We are looking forward to coming together to have some fun and raise money for our beloved school.

Even with full schedules, we need your help! Here is where you are needed.

1. Volunteers: our event is not possible without volunteer support. We are asking for 1 hour throughout the day, giving you time to still enjoy the event. General admission entry is included for volunteers. We have slots for our 5-8 grade students which will provide service hours.

We would love this first round of slots to be filled today. We are adding slots throughout the week, please come back if all slots are full: SIGN UP

2. EPIC Raffle: 32 families have qualified for the EPIC Entertainment field trip. Remember, use your personal link to sell your family's tickets. We had over 100 qualifying families last year. Help us beat that record! Have you qualified?

3. Silent Auction: You've been waiting all year for this. We pride ourselves on having one of the most incredible silent auctions around. Bid online ALL week, view items in person on Saturday. Get your top bids in by March 29 at 3:30 when the auction closes. BID HERE.

4. JOIN US: We hope you've made plans to come for the day or just a couple of hours. Your kids won't want to miss The Nest - back with some fun and exciting attractions - fun jumps, arts & crafts, face painting, and more. With fun for all ages, you'll enjoy yummy food, BINGO, and the chance win to silent auction items. We want our Nest filled with Bluejays. Help us make this the best golf tournament around.

Find more information and purchase in advance on our website or show up on event day and purchase tickets at the gate.

Thank you for all you've done to support Bluejay Bash. We cannot wait to see you all on Saturday.

Personnel

With mixed emotions, we share that Mr. David Faber will be leaving his position on our OneHeart team, as he has accepted a role with the State of Louisiana’s Office of Technology Services in Lafayette. His last day with us will be April 11.

Though David has only been part of our Bluejay family for three years, he has made a lasting impact—bringing not only his technology expertise but also a tremendous amount of faith, joy, and kindness to his role. His presence has been a true gift to our school community. While this decision was not an easy one, David feels God has led him to this new opportunity.

We are deeply grateful for all that David has given to St. Cecilia, and while he may no longer be on staff, we are blessed that he will remain part of our community as a Bluejay dad. Please join us in thanking David for his dedication and wishing him and his family God’s blessings in this next chapter.

Dear Bluejay Family,

This week was a rather light week for sports at St. Cecilia. Our tennis team was in action twice. On Monday, they played St. Genevieve and concluded the week on Friday against Fatima. Against St. Genevieve, our Bluejays won 9 courts, and against Fatima they won 7 courts. Coach Morlas said the kids do not quit and played very well, especially the newer tennis players. It is exciting to see the sport of tennis growing here. In recent years, we have placed more tennis players on varsity and junior varsity teams than ever before. The tennis team will play against St. John Berchmann and the Academy of Sacred Heart on Wednesday in Broussard.

Our track teams attended its first meet Tuesday at Catholic High. The kids performed great! They trusted their coaches and participated in events that were out of their comfort zone. The runners had strong performances across the board, and the field event participants excelled at well. It is a sure sign that practice has paid off. The track and field team is back in action this week again at Catholic High on Tuesday.

As a reminder as we play games next week, please refer to the Athletic Handbook. Admission is $6 for adults, and $1 for children. SCS students, staff and teachers as well as active duty military, veterans, and first responders are admitted free for home games in our gym. The schedules are available on our athletics page, where you can find all the information you need for Bluejay sports. Our 7/8th Grade Football Team’s and 5th Grade Girls Basketball Team's championship gear is now available for purchase. Both of our Softball championship gear is being designed as we speak.
