This year, the Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) at Otselic Valley has provided our students with exceptional opportunities for growth, exploration, and community service. Through hands-on experiences, campus visits, and service projects, students are learning that leadership begins with connection.
Enrichment and Exploration
Students and families joined a school supply giveaway and dinner at SUNY Morrisville, catered by Magros, and high school participants visited several colleges -- including SUNY Delhi, Cortland, Cobleskill, and the Job Corps campus in Oneonta. Middle school students took on new challenges at the Wilderness Adventure Park in Greene, building confidence and teamwork on the climbing wall and ropes course.
Service and Support
In partnership with Good Neighbors NY in Vestal, LPP students helped collect and deliver a carload of food, drinks, and supplies to support their peers at OV. These donations are now available throughout the school to help keep our Vikings fueled and ready to learn.
Carter’s Closet: A Legacy of Kindness
Through the continued dedication of LPP students and Ms. Linda Gorton, Carter’s Closet -- named in memory of Carter Rood -- was recently reorganized into a warm, well-labeled space where OV families can find free clothing and essentials. An additional elementary closet in Mrs. Hicks’ room ensures our youngest Vikings are supported too.
Each of these efforts -- from service learning to college exploration -- reflects the heart of the Liberty Partnership Program: helping students build the confidence, skills, and compassion they need to thrive.
A heartfelt thank-you to Ms. Gorton, SUNY Morrisville, and all community partners for their continued support in making these opportunities possible for our students.
