COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its monthly report for January 2024.

Building permit valuation in January 2024 was 35% lower than January 2023. Fees collected in January 2024 were significantly lower than January 2023 – a 76% decrease. However, 153 permits were issued in January 2024, which was higher than the number of permits issued in January 2023. The significant permits issued in January were all for accessory dwelling units. The smaller-scale projects are the primary reason for valuation and fees being lower than the previous year.

Planning received three new applications in January 2024. Two were for Accessory Dwelling Units and one was for a house remodel.

Two new business licenses were issued in January. One was for a CPA office and the other was for a photography business.

Community Preservation continued to be active in January 2024. The number of cases opened in January 2024 were equal to the previous year. 70% of the cases opened in January were initiated by the inspector, with 23% initiated by the public.
