Nursery Class Spring 2

After reading the story 'The Naughty Bus' by Jan and Jerry Oke, and learning all about his adventures, there was a knock on our door! The postman had brought us out very own parcel, I wonder what it could be?

What a shock! It was our very own Naughty Bus! I do hope that he behaves in our class...

The Naughty Bus reminded us to always brush our teeth before bed. This led to a discussion around dental hygiene and why it is important to look after our teeth.

We need to brush our teeth or we will have cavities.
They will get mucky and yellow.

Throughout the term we used the books The Naughty Bus, and The Train Ride to inspire us in Drawing Club. The Children were full of so many wonderful and imaginative ideas! Engaging in drawing club helps children to develop their imagination, fine motor and speaking skills. Nursery class thoroughly enjoy participating in Drawing Club and letting their imagination go wild.

Continuing to develop our shoulder and elbow pivot the children in nursery have been making marks using vehicles, creating their own 'magic wands' by wrapping ribbon around sticks, and taking part in daily Squiggle While you Wiggle sessions.

Below is a snapshot of some of the maths that has been taking place throughout this half term. The children have been exploring different ways of making amounts up to 5, counting out the correct amount of objects to match numerals to 5, recognising 2D and 3D shapes, and much much more!

We celebrated World Book Day 2024 by dressing up as our favourite book characters and sharing many books together throughout the session. We were also lucky to receive a visit from Mrs Padfield, Mr Garrood and Miss Dakin, who all came into nursery to read stories to our children.

The N2 children are making great progress at writing letters from their first name. They are working hard to master the correct formation of each letter.

The N1 children have been making pre writing marks which will help them to write their name in the future.

We've had a mixed bag of weather this half term with our fair share of rain. Not to worry though as this doesn't stop Nursery class enjoying spending time outside.

Transporting water on a large scale requires communication and teamwork. The children help each other fill up different containers to transport the water, and work together to problem solve, making sure that they don't loose any water in the process.

Nursery children have also been busy working away in the mud kitchen. Here you can try "rainbow unicorn pie", "Let it go pie", or "mud sausages", all of which are truly delicious.

It is very important to get each order correct so the children used their communication skills to ask their customers what they would like to order before writing it down for the chef.

This term the children noticed that the playdough is now a plain cream colour, they then realised that felt tip pens have been added into the dough area continuous provision. Colouring the dough is now the children's responsibility by using felt tip pens. Using the felt tip pens to make marks in the dough gives the children the chance to add further details and imagination to their work.

Or key text this half term was 'We all go travelling by'. The children in nursery have enjoyed listening to this story and can now independently retell it using the story map.

We finished this half term by participating in an Easter egg competition, I am sure you will agree that each and every one of these eggs are just fantastic. Well done everybody.
