ROB PARKER: founder of black sportswriter hall of fame Mariah hunt

NABJ Hall of Famer Rob Parker is one of America’s top African American sports journalists and newscasters in the media field. From writing for the Detroit Free Pass to ESPN, Parker has consistently created a reputation throughout his career.

In 1995, Parker was the first African American sports columnist for Newsplay and the first black man to be on-air for WDFN in Detroit. He also created an " MLBbro " project to cover black and brown major league baseball players.

His controversial statement about the Washington Redskins quarterback can be the result of what jump-started his independent platforms.

Rob Parker was born and raised in Queens Village, NY. His birthday is January 10, 1964, which makes him 61 years old. While growing up in that environment, he attended Martin Van Buren High School.

While there, he was later inducted into the Martin Van Buren High School Hall of Fame in 2022.

Rob Parker attended Southern University for his bachelor's, then Columbia University for his master's, and later graduated in 1988.

Because of Parker's digital platforms, work, and dedication throughout the years, he was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Hall of Fame on Friday, August 4, 2023.

His platforms included Fox Sports, Shadow League, and ESPN. While he did circulate through his given platforms, he later branched out to create his platforms. MLBbro and "The Odd Couple" highlight some of his best achievements while writing for his other platforms.
