Trae Young Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Feb. 3 through Feb. 9, the NBA announced today. In four games played this past week, Young averaged 31.3 points, 10.5 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 36.9 minutes of play. He was one of only two players in the NBA to average at least 30.0 points and 10.0 assists and the only player to do so while appearing in at least four games.

  • Poured in 17 of his game-best 34 points in the fourth quarter - tied for the third-most fourth quarter points by an Eastern Conference player this past week.

  • Hit the game-winning bucket with 1.6 seconds left to play, marking his third go-ahead field goal in the last 10 seconds of a game this season ... Per Elias Sports, his three such buckets are the most by any player in the league.
  • First of three 30-point outings this past week, one of only two Eastern Conference players to score 30+ three times.

One of only two Eastern Conference players (three in NBA) to finish a final half with 20+ points and 5+ assists this past week and the only player to do so while also shooting at least .600% from the floor.

  • Also drained five triples, in addition to his 35 points and 14 helpers, marking his 23rd career game with at least 35 points, 10 assists and five three-pointers, the third-most such games in league history.
  • Opened the second half with four straight assists to newly-acquired forward Georges Niang, who buried four consecutive three-pointers.
Young is averaging a league-leading 11.4 assists per game this season, in addition to 23.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 36.0 minutes of play. He is the only player in the NBA averaging more than 11.0 assists per game, 1.1 assists more than the next closest player in the league (Nikola Jokic: 10.3) and 1.9 more than the next closest Eastern Conference player (Cade Cunningham: 9.5). Young also owns a league-leading 560 total assists this season. Other than Young, no other player in the NBA has more than 484 total assists.
