Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, and Students,
Well, that’s a wrap for a very busy Term 3 and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, hardworking students, and supportive community for making it a highly productive and memorable one. Together, we have made our way through a term filled with significant achievements and meaningful moments that showcase the spirit of Lake Munmorah High School.
One of the standout occasions this term was, without doubt, our Year 12 Graduation Ceremony and the Whole School “Clap Out.” The graduating HSC Class of 2025 has experienced an extraordinary journey during their time with us. Their school years have been shaped not only by the usual challenges of adolescence and academic rigour but also by unprecedented events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, bushfires, and floods. These events have tested their resilience, adaptability, and determination in ways few cohorts have had to face. Throughout, our Year 12 students have demonstrated remarkable strength of character, mutual support, and a steadfast commitment to making the most of every opportunity. These qualities will undoubtedly serve them well as they move beyond the school gates into the next chapters of their lives.
In the academic arena, major works across IT Timber, Music, Visual Arts, and Society & Culture were submitted this term, with many students producing exceptional projects. I am especially proud to announce that Kael P received a highly prestigious SHAPE nomination for his Timber Project. SHAPE celebrates outstanding HSC projects in Design and Technology, Industrial Technology, and Textiles and Design, with the exhibition to be held at the University of Technology next year. This recognition speaks volumes about the talent and dedication of our students and the quality of teaching they receive.
On the sporting front, the highlight was undoubtedly the return of the “Munner’s Cup” to the LMHS staff. In the much-anticipated annual competition between Year 12 students and their teachers, the mighty Lake Munmorah High School staff reclaimed the trophy, much to everyone’s delight!
Our school also proudly participated in the local Aboriginal Cultural Sporting Event, the Muru Bulbi Shield. While we did not secure a win, our students—both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal—displayed the legendary LMHS fighting spirit, competing fiercely against larger local high schools. This event was a wonderful celebration of our local cultural connections and the camaraderie fostered through team sports.
The Big Picture Advisory Classes continued to thrive, with students presenting their third exhibitions on a wide range of topics of personal interest and engagement. Many Year 9 students have successfully secured external mentors through the Learning Through Internships program, providing valuable real-world experience. We are also pleased to announce that Mrs Hayley Allsop will be joining the Big Picture Team as the Year 8 Advisory Teacher in 2026.
Our students and staff were prominently involved in the Central Coast Schools’ Showcase performances held at the Laycock Street Theatre in Gosford. The talent displayed by our students was outstanding and a delightful surprise to many, reflecting the diverse strengths within our school community.
Additionally, students have embraced numerous opportunities across sporting, creative, academic, and cultural domains throughout the term. I am certain that the dedicated staff will provide further details on these achievements in their reports, and I look forward to celebrating these successes with you all.
Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to a successful Term 3. I wish all students, staff, and families a safe and restful break, and I look forward to an equally exciting Term 4.
Wishing all our students and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable Spring holiday break.
Kind regards,
Tony Keevill
Principal, Lake Munmorah High School
HSIE - Faculty Report
Term 3 is always an emotional one as we farewell our Year 12 students, who are about to embark on their next journey in life. This year we were fortunate to guide five Year 12 classes through their HSC studies: Ancient History, Business Studies, Modern History, Society and Culture, and Work Studies. It has been a privilege to spend the past two years with you all.
Please remember that your teachers are still available in the lead-up to the HSC to mark or give advice on practice responses. Thank you for the memories — from late-night emails about assessment tasks, to lunchtime hang-outs, and watching you grow into incredible young adults. We know you will thrive in your HSC. Good luck — the best is still yet to come!
We also want to acknowledge the dedication of all HSIE students this term. Congratulations to our Year 11s on completing their Yearly Examinations and Preliminary course. We look forward to welcoming you back next term as Year 12s. Enjoy your break, and as you prepare for your final year of school, remember to stay calm, be proactive, and embrace every moment.
In Geography, our Year 7s began their first studies of the subject, exploring Landscapes and Landforms and developing their Geography Skills — work that will continue into Term 4. Years 8, 9 and 10 also transitioned into Geography, refining their skills and studying topics including Water in the World, Changing Places, and Environmental Change and Management. We are proud of the effort students have put into their assessment tasks this term — from brochures and posters to detailed reports.
Finally, a friendly reminder: as we head into Term 4, please return to school with restocked stationery and a new workbook if needed. If students are unable to bring these, please ask them to see their classroom teacher.
Science - Faculty Report
It has been a very busy and rewarding term in Science, as we prepare to farewell our Year 12 students. We would like to extend our congratulations to the following students who achieved first place in their courses:
- Chemistry: Riley M
- Physics: Riley M
- Biology: Jack S
- Science Extension: Riley M
These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their studies, and their outstanding results are a testament to their hard work. We are extremely proud of all our Year 12 students and their determination in preparing for the HSC.
Our Year 11 students have also been working diligently to complete their final examinations. We are pleased to announce the following first places:
- Chemistry: Sharni B
- Biology: Vasare U
- Investigating Science: Vasare U
Across the junior years, students have been actively engaging in a wide range of scientific learning experiences. Year 7 has been investigating forces, with highlights including practical activities involving magnets, experiments with the Van de Graaff generator, and a lively tug-of-war competition to explore force in action. Year 8 has been studying Chemistry, focusing on the nature and uses of elements. Year 9 has also been engaged in Chemistry, deepening their understanding of how elements are arranged in the Periodic Table and the history of its development.
In Year 10, students have been exploring Biology, particularly genetics, by predicting traits using Punnett Squares and investigating the structure of DNA. A highlight of the unit was extracting DNA from strawberries. Mrs Gobor’s Year 10 STEM class has delved into Forensic Science, participating in a range of engaging practical activities and simulations designed to bring science to life.
As the term concludes, we remind students to take the opportunity over the holiday break to refresh their stationery kits in preparation for next term. We thank all students for their efforts and enthusiasm this term, and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Music
Music students this term have been working diligently to create new and exciting performances for our community. Our students did an amazing job at Central Coast Showcase, we had an outstanding selection of music items. Big thanks to Ms Gillard for all her support with arranging the performers for the big show.
Our senior music students had their performance exams late this term and they have done a fabulous job! The Y12 class performed together at the graduation assembly, it was such a wonderful way to farewell the school with one last show together on stage.
Modern Languages
Japanese Term 3 2025 was an exciting term full of learning and fun! Students explored new vocabulary about foods and meals, which led to lots of engaging activities and conversations. They practiced using polite Japanese phrases to interact effectively in the classroom, building confidence in speaking. A big highlight was learning how to introduce and describe friends and family, including their hobbies and interests. Students also learned to tell the time in Japanese, which they enjoyed using in practical, real-life situations. It’s been wonderful to see their growing enthusiasm and confidence in using the language!
Visual Arts
Our visual arts students have been creating ceramic sculptures and painting portraits of their beloved pets. Ms Stephens has been demonstrating different ceramic techniques, including experimenting with the throwing wheels. We are currently setting up an exhibition in the staff room of these beautiful works.
Our senior visual arts students submitted their portfolios of work and bodies of work for examination this term. We are very proud of the high standard of refinement and sophistication of their artworks.
Dance
Huge congratulations to SHINE Dance for their outstanding performances for Central Coast Showcase. Our dedicated students were competitively selected to perform two excellent items at the matinee and evening shows. We would like to give huge thanks to Ms Stanford, Ms Evans and Ms Gillard for all their efforts to assist our dance students with their rehearsals and support over this term.
Warm regards,
The CAPA Faculty 🎨🎭🎶
English - Faculty Report
This term our students have travelled far and wide through stories — stepping into the courage of World War II, rewriting fairytales with a modern twist and even crossing into the eerie Scottish Highlands with Macbeth!
Year 7 have been gripped by Morris Gleitzman’s powerful novel Once, exploring its World War II context and connecting deeply with the story and its characters. Year 8 have unleashed their creativity through fractured fairytales, taking well-loved classics and twisting them into clever, funny, and sometimes surprising versions for modern audiences.
Stage 5 have dived headfirst into the drama and passion of Shakespeare, with Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth giving students the chance to connect with big questions about love, ambition and what it means to be human. A highlight for our Year 10 students was their excursion to Sydney to see Macbeth live on stage. Students loved the experience and left with a deeper appreciation of Shakespeare’s work. Year 11 wrapped up their end of course examinations and are now gearing up to step into the challenge of Year 12. And of course, we send our very best wishes to our Year 12 students as they take on their HSC. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to celebrate your successes.
We look forward to another exciting term ahead in English with new texts, fresh ideas and plenty more stories to explore together.
TAS - Faculty Report
Congratulations to the graduation class or 2025. The TAS faculty wish to express how proud we are of each of you. Over the years, we have watched you all grow into young adults who are ready to take on new challenges, embrace opportunities, and shape your own futures. Carry forward the lessons you have learned, the friendships you have made, and the resilience you have shown. Remember that success is not measured only by achievements, but also by the kindness, integrity, and perseverance you bring to everything you do. While we will miss your energy, laughter, and presence in our classrooms, we are excited to see the many paths you will take. Believe in yourselves, embrace new experiences, and never stop learning.
Congratulations, Yr 12 Hospitality, Construction and Industrial Tech 2025. We wish you every success, happiness, and fulfilment in the journey ahead
A huge thank you to all the Hospitality students who hosted coffee shop each week. Your efforts were duly appreciated by all staff at Lake Munmorah High School. Your dedication and time spent on these occasions made special memories and provided opportunities to engage in quality learning.
Congratulations to all of our HSC Industrial Technology Timber students on completing fantastic Major Projects. Hours and hours of hard work were put into these projects, with our students showing great problem solving, technical skills and resilience to finish the projects to the highest possible standard.
Mr Watson and Miss Plane are extremely proud of you all.
A special congratulations to Kael Pigram. Kael’s project has been nominated for the Shape Exhibition held at The University of Technology in Sydney. This is a monumental achievement, as only a select amount of projects get nominated across the state. Well done Kael.
Yr 11 Hospitality
A Big Thankyou to the year 11 and year 10 students who catered for the graduation assembly. The preparation and efforts on the day to provide morning tea to 300 students and their families is a huge task that could not have been possible without your help and support. The yr 10 Students who stepped up and helped on the day went above and beyond .
Thankyou to the following students
Yr 11 Ben Drew and Thandi Ives
Yr 10 Food Technology students Malii Twyford, Oliver Pasmore, Liam O’Meley
Technology Mandatory Classes
Yr 7 have been working productively in textiles to produce quality projects.
Learning new skills in hand sewing and fabric making. The workmanship and engagement is exciting to see and hopefully students continue to embrace these opportunities.
Year 9 Food Technology
This term, our three Year 9 Food Technology classes have been diving into the delicious world of food trends—and making their mark on the kitchen and the camera roll. As part of their practical coursework, students explored how to prepare garnishes and decorations to enhance food presentation. They also learned the art of food styling for photography, analysing what makes a dish not just taste good, but look amazing too. For their final assessment, each student selected a recipe to prepare, plated it with style, snapped a photo like a pro—and then evaluated the whole process.
Of course, once the cameras clicked, the forks flew. Most students relished the chance to taste their creations. The energy in the room was as vibrant as the food on the plates—with some professional-looking results! Special mention must go to the student who lovingly prepared and plated their dish, only to turn around and find it… mysteriously gone. It turns out another student, who had already consumed their own meal (and someone else’s), thought it looked too good to resist. Lesson learned: always photograph your food before your classmates eat it!
Aboriginal Education Team
Term 3 has been a significant and busy time for Aboriginal Education team at Lake Munmorah High School and across our muru gulgul Community of Schools. Throughout the term, our students, staff, families and community partners have continued to walk together, celebrating culture, language and learning through a variety of events and initiatives.
We began the term with the Muru Bulbi Shield, a day that brought our community together in the spirit of sport, culture, respect and pride. Unfortunately, we came away with a second-place finish, with Gorokan High School deservedly winning the shield. Yarn Up provided an opportunity for parents, carers and community to celebrate student achievements and discuss semester two goals. Our younger community members engaged in cultural activities through the Stage 2 NAIDOC Day, with Years 3 and 4 students visiting LMHS, while the Stage 3 Aboriginal Transition Program supported Year 5 and 6 students in building confidence and strong connections as they prepare for high school. National Aboriginal Children’s Day was celebrated with LMHS students visiting Lake Munmorah public school to read with younger students, highlighting the importance of storytelling and literacy.
Twelve of our students were selected to participate in the Boots for Brighter future program. They designed and painted boots for the NRLW Sydney Roosters to celebrate Indigenous Round, with the players proudly wearing them in their Round 7 clash against the Newcastle Knights after hosting our students for a team dinner, presentation and training session. Additionally, we recognised student achievement through our PLP Semester One Goal Celebration Lunch, which celebrated the progress of students working towards their personalised learning pathways. Enrichment opportunities were provided through the HPGE Domain Day, where Year 6 students from across our Muru Gulgul Community of Schools engaged in workshops across the four domains. Importantly, work has continued on the Aboriginal Language Curriculum, with development well underway for the 2026 rollout as we work closely with community to ensure the local language is celebrated and embedded into our classrooms.
Our students also proudly represented LMHS at the Gibalee Day celebrations at Mannering Park Public School, where they facilitated both a Yidaki workshop and Traditional Games with primary students. The talents of our young people were further showcased during the Muru Bulbi Showcase, with outstanding performances from Johnathan P, Dylan N, Billy C and Alex G. Finally, we celebrated the achievements of our Year 12 Aboriginal students at their graduation assembly. We are immensely proud of our six graduates, with three already receiving early entry offers into university.
These highlights reflect the strength of our partnerships and the commitment of our students to embrace culture, education and leadership. We look forward to building on these successes in term four and we wish all our students and families a safe and relaxing break!
Thanks,
LMHS Aboriginal Education Team

It has been another wonderful but busy term for the leadership team making connections with our community. In early September the Junior and Senior leaders also ran another highly successful DUGS (Dads, Uncles, Grandfathers and Special Friends) Day barbeque breakfast. It was a fantastic opportunity for staff and students to connect with our school community, and we had an amazing turn out. Thank you for all that attended.

Their leadership, support of the student body and overall contribution to the school has been tremendous. Good luck to each and every member of the team as they graduate and move on their next big adventure!

Year 7 Wellbeing Programs
Thanks to our ongoing partnership with San Remo Neighbourhood Centre LINKS Youth Support, our Year 7 students took part in two fantastic programs:
- Reality Check – A program focused on building resilience, making positive choices, and strengthening social skills.
- Actually, I Can – Aimed at empowering young people with confidence and goal-setting strategies.
Individual Case Management and Small Group Work
We are incredibly fortunate to have regular visits and case management support from:
- Salvation Army – Oasis Youth Support, offering individual case management to students.
- RYSS (Regional Youth Support Services), supporting students through 1:1 case management and running small group programs.

o The Body Project – Promoting positive body image and healthy self-talk.
o Seasons for Growth – Supporting students through grief, loss, and change.
Creative Expression & Music
We were thrilled to welcome back the Digi Van, who delivered their Digi Beats program – a 10-week music production workshop where students learned how to create and record their own tracks, as well as gain insight into the music industry. The creativity and talent displayed were inspiring!
Participants collaborate to create original tracks that reflect their personal stories, experiences and cultures, while developing practical skills and exploring global music traditions in a culturally safe environment. Each workshop is led by an industry professional and cultural mentors, with final tracks professionally mixed, mastered and prepared for release.
Pride and Peer Support
Our GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) group meets fortnightly during break times and continues to be a space of safety, pride, and inclusion. This term, the GSA successfully organised a Wear It Purple celebration, including Giant Games, a Photo Booth, and strong community support from BATYR.
Community Engagement & Safety Education
We were privileged to welcome Larissa from Headspace, who spent valuable time yarning with students about the services Headspace offers in the community. Her visits help break stigma and offer students trusted pathways to support.
Our Year 10 cohort had a full schedule of important life skills and safety programs:
- RYDA Road Safety delivered their comprehensive workshop on driver awareness and road responsibility.
- The NSW Police Youth Liaison Team provided multiple engaging and informative sessions:
o Fit for Life – Basketball with selected Year 10 students
o You Should Be a Cop – Career insights and engagement with law enforcement
o Domestic Violence & Road Safety Presentations – Important conversations for our young people’s future wellbeing.
YOU SHOULD BE A COP PROGRAM
Kiara was selected to participate in the ‘You Should Be a Cop’ program which is an initiative designed for young people in years 10-12 across NSW who have a genuine interest in joining the NSW Police Force.
This was a fabulous 4 day event held at PCYC Bateau Bay and had an amazing jam packed week of interactive experiences facilitated by the NSW Police Forcce Youth Command.
Students had the opportunity to have hands on discussions with the many different career pathways available with interactive workshops involving the mounted police, the dog squad and much more. They also were put through their paces completing the fitness requirements just like they would during their application process.
What a fantastic program and opportunity for Kiara.
R U OK? Day Supports every Friday
Every Friday at school, the Wellbeing Team runs social games, art therapy, and peer support activities. These sessions are a fun and safe way to de-stress and connect.
LIFECHANGER Year 7, 9 and 10
Life Changer recently concluded their Awaken the Hero Program at Lake Munmorah High School. The Awaken the Hero Program centres around Life Changer's Five Pillars of Health, Skills, Self, Purpose and Tribe. Throughout the workshops, the students learnt about a number of different concepts including physical and mental health, goal setting, problem solving, resilience, gratitude, self-acceptance and connection. The facilitators really enjoyed building rapport with the students over the five weeks. A particular highlight was seeing students get involved in the group activities and discussions.

Year Advisor Reports
Year 12 - Miss Emily Davis
What a week it has been! Our Year 12 students have well and truly finished their time at Lake Munmorah High School with style, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
The final week of celebrations showcased the creativity and spirit of this amazing group. From cosy Pyjama Day, to the hilarity of Anything But a Bag (who knew a kayak could double as a backpack), the students never failed to surprise us. When I Grow Up Day was a highlight, seeing future nurses, tradies, teachers, and even celebrities walk through the gates. Our trip down memory lane on Primary School Day brought back plenty of nostalgia, while Aussie Icons Day gave us a colourful parade of all things uniquely Australian.
These celebrations set the tone perfectly for the more formal occasions that followed. The Graduation Ceremony was a truly special moment, marking the end of six years of hard work, resilience, and achievement. It was wonderful to celebrate alongside families, staff, and friends who have supported the students throughout their journey.
To top it all off, the Year 12 Formal at Soldiers Beach was nothing short of spectacular. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments, a fitting farewell for a cohort that has left a lasting mark on our school.
As I sign off as Year Advisor for the final time, I want to thank Year 12 for the privilege of walking alongside you these past six years. Your growth, your character, and your spirit have made this role incredibly rewarding. Congratulations, Class of 2025, you will be deeply missed, but I know you are destined for great things.
Miss Davis
