Ten Precepts for Spiritual Warriors A Code to Live By

Manhood and the masculine gender are under a relentless attack in many nations including the United States. In fact, the American media reports a story with the word “wusification” included on an ever increasing basis. The words “wus” and “chick’a’fied” are also used to disparage the masculine gender. More recently we hear the call for “gender neutrality”. This voice alleges that allowing boys to play with toy soldiers or engage in traditional boyhood activities will “blur” their true humanity and potential.

Interestingly, the word “wusification” comes down to us from the word pusillanimous, a word not often used in modern culture. However, the Webster’s definition is very telling… “Void of manly vigor; of contemptible timidity; cowardly”, terms that no man would want to be associated with. It is a word rooted in how the Roman legions viewed soldiers who camped behind walls of cities for protection rather than out in the open areas of normal commerce and human activity.

To repulse and neutralize this cultural assault on the masculine gender I propose the following precepts for men to internalize and then live by. Precepts that will give voice and form to the masculine gender as God intended and stability and security to the family as well as the culture

1. Passionate desire and determination of the heart to prepare and perfect yourself for the stance against evil in the service of others.

2. Supernatural understanding of the warrior calling and role of the masculine gender in culture.

3. Indominatible determination to prepare and to perfect himself to be ready to answer the call for life’s battles.

4. Servant in pursuit of valor: a consequential threat to the enemy

5. Lifestyle of integrity---honor, courage, loyalty and sacrificial service

6. Uncompromising submission to authorities in his life: God, vows, oaths, etc.

7. A warrior becoming one with his weapon, the Word and the warrior forged thru daily practice

8. Member of a band of brothers: bonds of love rooted in core values/ cherished traditions, and forged in shared experiences

9. Devotion to duty: protector of family, friends, and sacred traditions

10. Daily renewing of the mind by the word of God, becoming more “Jesusesque”
