This Week In Band

Congratulations Class of 2024! Senior night was so much fun! Seniors, you can find all of your free photos to download at the Allen Band Flickr Page. This week is the beginning of our Playoff Football Season. We typically find out our playoff locations and opponents with less than a week's notice. This week, we are going to play Lewsiville HS at Clark Stadium in Plano on Thursday, November 9th.

Congratulations Varsity and JV Drumlines for earning 1st place in their respective divisions at the Lewisville Drumline Invitational this weekend. Varsity also won best front ensemble while JV won best snare, quad, and bass line! Many thanks to Mr. Locke, Ms. Johnson, percussion staff, Allen Band Booster Association, and of course the students for a great season!

We are now finished with morning marching band rehearsals. We will run-through our halftime performance at AHS prior to leaving for playoff football games from now on. This week we will start concert uniform fittings before school for LFC students and during band classes for AHS students. Details below.

• No Morning Marching Band Rehearsals This Week: Some concert bands will begin morning rehearsals this week. The TWIB Notes will not publish morning concert band rehearsals. The directors of each ensemble will communicate morning rehearsal schedule from this point on. This week will be AHS Wind Ensemble, AHS Wind Symphony, and AHS Symphonic 1.
• Concert Uniform Fitting This Week at AHS: AHS Band and all percussion will fit during their band classes. LFC ensembles will fit at 7am at AHS beginning on Monday. See schedule below (Events This Week section). LFC Shuttle at 8:15am will be provided.
• PLAYOFF GAME 1 - Allen vs. Lewisville (THURSDAY - 11/9) at Clark Stadium (Plano): We will wear our traditional uniforms (blue uniform shirt). Call time is 4:35pm. Itinerary HERE.
• Dallas Winds Concert (11/7/23): We are approved for a trip for Allen Band members to the next Dallas Winds Concert on 11/7/23. The Dallas Winds and Eighth Blackbird will be performing Vital Sines by Viet Cuong. As you know Vital Sines was the source material for Part 4 of this year's marching show, Celestial. Students were notified of the tickets sales link last Thursday, Nov 2nd. The trip is capped at 90 students and will close Sunday, Nov 5th at 11:59pm or at 90 tickets sold (whichever comes first). If we cannot accept more students on our trip, you can purchase individual tickets and go on your own from the Dallas Winds website. ATTIRE: Business Casual would be appropriate for a Tuesday evening concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center. ITINERARY HERE. PURCHASE TICKETS HERE.
• Absences/Tardies: THERE IS NO EXCUSED ABSENCE REQUEST FORM IN 2023-24. The only way a student can receive an excused absence for a rehearsal or performance is through e-mail communication with the student’s band director from a parent. In addition, advanced conflict forms were due on Aug. 18, 2023 to consider performance conflicts. See Band Handbook for more details.
