Upcoming State and District Required Assessments:
n our spring semester we will be administering annual state and district required assessments. Please make note of the dates for the assessments your child will be taking and, whenever possible, please avoid absences during the testing periods. Please note that, on testing days, if students arrive late after testing has begun, they will not be able to join their class until testing has completed for the day. Having students on time and present on testing days helps us gather valuable data while minimizing interruptions to daily instruction. Please help us meet that goal!
Typically, assessments begin in the morning and conclude each day prior to lunch.

**News from PE**
Hello Riffenburgh Families!
I wanted to send some exciting information out to everyone about our upcoming Safe Routes to School programming that will take place in PE class in February and March. For those who have not experienced this program it is an incredible opportunity that we have here in PSD for students to learn both about pedestrian and bike safety as well as to have the opportunity to work on their bike skills. I have had a great number of kids learn to ride without training wheels through this program and many others gain confidence in their bike skills as well as learning invaluable information about how to stay safe when biking on the roads and our bike paths.
We will have two days of instruction from Safe Routes to School instructors for all classes, the first day will be more informational with info about bike and pedestrian safety as well as some activities to practice these things. The second day we will get to ride bikes! I will send reminders to individual classes as we get closer to the day, but I have also attached at the bottom of this a schedule. If students have a bike and are able to bring it, they can drop their bike in the gym before school the day of their bike day and the city will bring in bike mechanics to make sure all bikes are safe to ride. If your child does not have a bike or you are unable to bring it that day the program will have extras available to use. All bikes will need to be picked up at the end of the day from the gym.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
