Over the past 18 years Young Life has hosted hundreds of friends on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. Groups will be hosted by local staff & leaders and experience local Young Life ministry by serving at an outreach camp.

One of the world’s seven summits, Mt. Kilimanjaro, called the rooftop of Africa, stands at 19,340 ft. and is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Previous climbing experience is not a requirement, the climb is not technical.
Trip Dates
June 16 - 27, 2024: Includes 3 days of serving at a local camp. Climb only dates are June 19-27.

August 3 - 17, 2023: Climb dates are August 3-13. These dates include a Great Migration safari for additional cost. Please inquire.

Trip Itinerary
This itinerary includes 3 days serving at Young Life camp from June 16-18, and the Climb beginning on June 19.
Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha, Tanzania. Welcome to Tanzania by Young Life Africa staff & leaders. (Included in June 16-27 trip dates only)
Day 2-3: Prepare and serve at Young Life camp. Welcome kids to camp and serve alongside local staff and leaders as "work crew". (Included in June 16-27 trip dates only)
Day 4: Orientation for the Climb, packing & preparations, team meetings, final gear check, mountain safety briefing with guides. Dinner Together, Rest & Relax, Praise & Worship Together.
Day 5: Early Morning Departure for Mt. Kilimanjaro, base camp @ 6,000 ft. Start hike! Camp overnight at Machame Camp (10,000 ft)
Day 6: Overnight Shira Camp @ 12,500 ft.
Day 7: Overnight Baranco Camp @ 13,100 ft.
Day 8: Overnight Karanga Camp @ 13,500 ft.
Day 9: Overnight Barafu Camp @ 15,400 ft.
Day 10: Summit Climb begins at midnight. Reach the Crater Rim and Peak at Sunrise @ 19,340 ft. Overnight Mweka Camp @ 10,000 ft.
Day 11: Descend Kilimanjaro and reach base camp 12:00pm for a hot lunch at Mweka Gate. Return to hotel for warm showers & naps. Celebratory trip dinner, "Say-So" with the group and Young Life team.
Day 12: Flights to depart Kilimanjaro airport home or to your next adventure.
Day 13: Arrive in the U.S.

Includes all ground transportation, meals, beverages, acommodations, activities, travel insurance. Cost is per person, double occupancy and subject to change based on dates selected. Special group pricing may be available. Does not include airfare, visas, hiking gear, guide tips and Trip Extensions.
Trip Extensions Available:
World Class Safari: Extend your trip with a 4 or 5 day Safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater hosted by knowledgeable local guides and accompanied by Young Life staff and leaders. Inquire for pricing, all levels of accomodations available.
Zanzibar Adventure: Take a short flight from Arusha to the historic island of Zanzibar, the famous "spice island". Take a guided walk or moto-ride through Stone Town where Arabian and Indian influence is woven into Swahili culture. Snorkel the Nyange reef and take a private tour of a spice farm. Prices vary depending on length of stay.
