Distance covered - 65km
Our magical stay continued with a stunning breakfast complimented with a lovely host who attended to any request (within reason!) with the breakfast setting hosted in the main kitchen of the Chateau.
With great effort and after telling our host we weren’t going to ever leave, we rolled out over the wrist breaking cobble stone driveway and out onto the road to continue our journey.
Jenny has taken to her gravel bike and reckons it goes much better/faster than her bike back home (not that I’ve noticed) but isn’t happy with sore wrists from the more leaning forward posture.
Most of today’s ride was uneventful as we cycled along one of France’s many veloroutes that passed through kilometres of pine forests. The highlight was a stop in a small village and purchasing a baguette from a local cafe that was still piping hot. After slathering it with French butter pinched at breakfast we were in heaven crunching through the crust and devouring the soft buttered bread inside. Yum!
After 65km we made it to Lacanau Océan where it appears a lot of French spend their time on vacation. On the way in, we passed campgrounds and many holiday villas so the place has a friendly relaxed vibe. So what better way to finish off the day? A nice soak in a hot spa to relax our arching muscles!
