Director's Note
Grade 7 & 8
Following the success of last year’s first ever Junior show “revival”, we wanted to push the envelope again (pun intended). Dear Edwina is set in a garage in Paw Paw, Michigan as a neighborhood show, which is the direction we followed for our 5-6 grade show… but what if Edwina was a professional talk show host who already made it big time, but was still missing that piece of recognition she’s been longing for? Inspired by shows like The Amanda Show and iCarly, this new interpretation gives room for plenty of creativity. Although ambitious, the intention from the start was to not only present the show onstage, but also have digital components to present a whole new perspective of the show in the background. I am proud to say Dear Edwina Jr 7-8 grade has exceeded that goal. I have to give this cast so much credit for rising to the challenge and being able to follow through with the vision, essentially sometimes learning double the material the show would normally require. As if that were not impressive enough, the cast also learned brand new, never before heard harmonies composed by our music director, Olivia, just to take it up one notch more. All this in just 7 rehearsal days should not go unrecognized and I am so proud of them all. I am so grateful for the staff for all their work in planning and going above and beyond the camp hours to produce all we needed (plus some of us discovered new talents in video design, editing, or composing music)! This is a show you HAVE to see twice to see everything. We hope you enjoy the live filming of an episode of “The Dear Edwina Show!” `~Nich Palumbo
Grade 5 & 6
Over the past two weeks, Dear Edwina Jr. has become my favorite camp show. This cast has brought so much talent and passion to the stage, and their hard work has exceeded my expectations. Most importantly, I am so grateful for the camaraderie and friendships I have watched grow. MYT builds not only great shows but also great kids, and this cast is a testament to that. ~Priscilla
