Canbury School Newsletter 12th DECEMBER 2025. ISSUE 386

Head's Welcome

Dear Friends and Family Well, how did that happen! It feels like only yesterday we were welcoming everyone back in September, and here we are, already at the last day of the Autumn term. It has been such a busy week of activities and festivities as we wind down for the Christmas break. As I write this, our final day activities are well underway, and there are Christmas tunes and cheerful voices echoing from all corners of the school! I want to say again how incredibly impressed I was with all the students who got up and performed in Wednesday's production. For some of you, I know that stepping onto the stage was a big step outside your comfort zone, and your bravery and talent shone through beautifully. A huge thank you again to all the students and staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes too, your efforts made the event a great success! I hope that parents and carers have now received your child's Autumn Reports and Student Passports. You will notice we have made some tweaks to these following the feedback you provided via the survey sent out this term. We hope these changes give you a more rounded, comprehensive view of how your child is progressing across all areas of school life. All that is left to say now is that I hope you all have a wonderful, restful break over the Christmas holidays. We look forward to seeing our students back at school, refreshed and ready for the Spring Term, on Tuesday 6th January 2026. Best wishes to you all for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Mrs Rich Head

What we've been up to

Carols at Sherwood Grange

We visited Sherwood Grange on Monday for a wonderful session of carol singing and planting a Christmas tree in their garden. All of the students did fantastically and showed the true Canbury values. They also did so well when the residents wanted more carols, and ones we had not practiced! Plus thank you to Soren for playing the piano for us. We had some lovely feedback from the staff and residents, who were thrilled with our visit. Well done to you all and we can't wait to keep an eye on our Christmas tree to see how it grows over the years to come.

Science - Year 10 Christmas Quiz

Year 10 took part in a great Christmas quiz in science for the last lesson of term - thank you to Mrs Anjum for organising and what a great way to test our knowledge!

Ice Skating and Christmas Crafts

On Tuesday, much of the school braved the weather and went ice skating at Hampton Court. What a brilliant time we had and there were some great skills on show! Wednesday night saw our annual Christmas Production take place - this year it was Oliver Twist, and it was simply amazing! All of the students did such a wonderful job and we are extremely proud of them. Thank you to everyone involved in the rehearsals, costumes and on the night as well as all of the family and friends who came to support the show.
