Main Corridor
Designer Features
Architects and Interior Designers took a close look at the Rio Grande Valley community and used local resources for design throughout the building. An example of this are the laser panels on the Main Corridor, which feature a mesquite tree and its branches.
Fun Design Fact: The tree represents growth of knowledge and understanding from reading, while its branches signify movement. Migration through a bird's eye view is reflected from front to end.
Sustainability Design
The building addresses sustainable design, including careful materials selection for optimal indoor air quality, use of recycled materials, energy and water conservation, and ease of community access. An example of the energy saving features are the main corridor's skylight with sensors.
Computer Lab
Computer Stations
To the left of the Main Corridor's entrance is a computer lab with over 60 computers with plug & play tables. Computer labs are open during normal operating hours and shut off automatically 15 minutes prior to library closing time.
Wireless Internet
Main Library provides complimentary wireless internet access throughout the entire building and parking lot, ensuring you can stay connected wherever you choose to work or study.
Printing / Copying / Faxing
The Computer Lab offers a variety of services for the public, including printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and 3D printing.
