Entering the Clinics
Mississippi State University veterinary students spend their first two years in the classroom and their third and fourth years working with patients in our clinics. In early May, second-year students make their transition from the desk to the hospital floor.
Dean's Message
Dear Friends, It has been a busy May here at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Earlier this month, we celebrated the Classes of 2026. We are proud to graduate 115 DVM students, 30 VMT students and three PhD students. Please join me in congratulating our graduates and celebrating their success. These milestones reflect not only the hard work of our students but also the strength of the community that supports them. Faculty and staff contribute through teaching and mentorship, while advising, student organizations, research opportunities and a supportive environment all play vital roles. Thank you to everyone who has helped our students reach this important moment. At the same time, we welcome our DVM Class of 2028 students into clinics as they begin phase two of the curriculum. This transition is a defining feature of our two-and-two program, where “clinics are our classroom.” Two full years of hands-on clinical experience prepare our DVM students to graduate as confident, practice-ready veterinarians. I would also like to note our sincere gratitude to the legislature of the state of Mississippi. The significant investment in our college reflects a strong partnership and shared belief in the vital role our faculty, staff and students play in protecting animal health, public health and the state’s agricultural economy. These additional funds allow us to continue the work we have started with building new farm animal facilities, and we will now upgrade our equine and small animal clinical facilities as well. These improved clinical facilities will benefit the entire state and region. All the best, Nicholas Frank, Dean
