Message from the Leadership Team
Dear Noadswood Families,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! We hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with some much relaxation. If the Summer holidays were not as you hoped, please do get in touch with your child's year leader. As we embark on this academic journey together, we encourage everyone to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead, stay curious, and foster a spirit of collaboration and kindness within our community. A special warm welcome to our new Year 7 cohort; we are thrilled to have you join our Noadswood family and look forward to seeing you thrive throughout your journey here. Let’s continue to work together to make this year a memorable and successful one for all.
We’d like to take the opportunity to highlight some key reminders and dates:
Bude 2025
If your year child would like to join us for the Year 7 Bude residential, the £60 deposit is payable on Arbor by the 16th September at 4.00 pm. If you require financial assistance, please do reach out to finance@noadswood.hants.sch.uk.
Careers Fair
We would like to invite students in Years 9, 10 and 11 to attend the Careers Fair alongside their parents/careers. The Careers Fair will be held in the school hall on Thursday 19th September 2024. The event will take place at 14:50-18:00. It is a fantastic opportunity to speak with local colleges and employers from a range of sectors to find out more about post 16 options and further education
Open Events
We would like to remind all families that Noadswood will close early on Thursday 26/09/2024 to allow for preparation of the Open Evening. Students will leave site by around 12.30pm. Those who would usually claim a free school meal will be able to do so prior to their departure. We will be in contact in the coming weeks with regards to Noadswood helpers, who are the heart of our open events. If your child is unable to leave site at 12.30 pm and will need to remain in school until 2.50 pm, please complete this form below:
Communications sent home
We will send all communication home regarding trips or activities that we will be delivering through Arbor. You will also be able to a find a copy of the letter sent home on our website under the heading: Communications, which can be located at the top of our website. Once in there, you will see it is in year group order
Safeguarding and Signposting
As we return to school, we know that some students and their families might have experienced challenges and worries over the summer break. It really helps us to support you if we have an awareness of anything that might be troubling you, things you’re worried about or events that might be impacting how you’re feeling about coming into school. Please do get in contact with your child/ren tutor should you have any concerns.
Young Carers
We’re really pleased to be relaunching our support for our students who are young carers. Miss Lucas is meeting with our known young carers next week. If you think you might be a young carer, please drop Miss Lucas an email or Class Charts message. There’s some information here which might be useful to you: https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/childrenandfamilies/supportyoungpeople/youngcarers. If you’re not sure if this applies to you, please do pop up to the pastoral offices and have a chat with Miss Lucas or your Year Leader team.
DANCE LIVE
Noadswood will be participating in Dance Live 2025. This is an amazing dance competition, which takes place all over the UK. We need performers who can dance and act. We also need students to work on our production teams, organising props, and creating make-up and hair designs. The date of our competition is January 28th 2025, which is much earlier than last year. This should enable more of our Year 11 students to take part. The auditions for the performers take place on Monday 9th and Monday 16th September after school until 4.15pm.
Auditions are open to all students who are in Years 8-11.
Literacy
It has been wonderful to see our new Year 7 students returning to Noadswood with their wonderful book reviews of Ele Fountain’s Lost. If your child still has their copy at home, please ask them to return it to their tutor by Friday 13th September and hand their completed review to the Library. The best review will be chosen and the lucky winner will receive a prize
