What a busy week in Saltney Ferry. The staff and pupils are all busy and excited about this term's topics, the children are certainly keen to show me their work on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Over the last couple of weeks we have been looking at our targets for the year. We will be working on literacy with a focus on phonics and spelling, Mathematics and its use across the curriulum and we will also be reviewing the behaviour policy. We will be looking for pupils and parent/carers input into these targets. Thank you for your continued support! Have a great weekend. Mrs Williams
This week in Dosbarth Alwen we have continued developing our skills in maths by exploring 2D&3D shapes using magnetic and wooden shapes to build models, used wooden sticks and blue tac to build cubes, added our data from last weeks shape hunt to J2E to make a chart of our findings & drew shapes in the outdoor area. We have also been learning about strangers and what a safer stranger may look like & what we should do if a stranger approached us. In Udeskole, we made bird feeders just in time for bird watching weekend - please put them in your garden & see what birds you may attract this weekend🦅🦜🐦 we have been practising our letter recognition and CVC blending skills in our LLC area with a read and draw activity. Da Iawn Pawb🤩
This week in Dosparth Padarn we have been exploring 2D shape properties. We have learnt some songs to help us remember the shapes and sorted the shapes into different property groups. We have been learning how to upload pictures of our tasks onto seesaw - sorry if there have been some random photos of the children's work 😊. We have created a character profile of one of the bears from our Peace at Last story and are learning actions to go with it so we can retell the story. In Udeskole this week we cooked our own sourdough bread on the fire. It was very exciting!
Dosbarth Brenig had a great week learning about the fierce warrior Boudicca and began building our own Celtic village. We planned our diary writing based on our research and began laying ideas. The wind thwarted plans to start our real build in the forest although we've made a start with the help of some friends getting stuck in and others supervising / instructing from the side! We also learnt what really goes into daub!! If you don't know, ask a friend in our class.
In numeracy we have used our fraction skills after symmetry last week and begun to consider how we could use fractions in our Minecraft builds! Fab afternoon down the farm and forest!!
We have had another busy week full of fun and fantastic work in Dosbarth Gwynant! We have worked hard to edit and improve our diary writing from the perspective of the Welsh migrants in 1865. I was blown away by the creativity and understanding the children have shown in their writing! In maths we have continued to design a Welsh settlement, even taking inspiration from our friends in Brenig and transferring the design into Minecraft! Blwyddyn 6 enjoyed a visit to Mold Police Station for their Anti-Social Behavior input. They certainly did us proud! They listened beautifully, answered questions maturely and had a great time. Looking forward to another great week next week!😊

We are proud and excited to be working with St Peter's CIW Primary in Wrexham as they embark on a project to develop their own school farm. We look forward to supporting and mentoring their pupils on what has been the most impactful intervention we've done that supports well-being, learning experiences and social skills.
We revamped an area in school earlier this week to better support how we organise our farm equipment. Our greatest lesson from our farm journey has been that we are constantly evolving, whether that be the animals needs or how we organise our waterproofs! The hens will be getting a move around in the next term we are hoping and then a big dig over in the garden. Welcome to anyone that wants to lend a hand and we'll also be holding our community days once the weather improves.
