The CIE Foundation competition is on the 10th and 11th of April this year. Construction students will be wearing pink hard hats and safety glasses this year in honor of Dr. McGowan. One of our very own students Tahla Paulino won a 500 dollar scholarship from CIE Foundation.

Entrepreneurship

Year one classes are just wrapping up their career planning lessons of resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, career research & skill assessments. After this they will be taking their year 1 MSJC articulation tests and going through the process to get MSJC and CATMA ID's. Then it's TAX time...everyone's favorite topic! We will be going over our tax lessons. We discuss how taxes work, the different types of taxes, the impacts on paychecks, spending, business and budgets. They will examine tax tables, how to calculate their taxable income, and go over tax forms. They will finish with a tax assignment on how taxes affect their spending, where they live and financial decisions they make.

In the year two classes they are wrapping up their Google Suite Tool review. They will then be moving onto their Year 2 MSJC articulation testing. Once that is complete, they will be talking about project management and how it will benefit them in their careers, and business endeavors. They will then move into laser engraving design and projects.

Digital Media

April was a busy month for our CTE Digital Media Students. We had students compete in The Hemet Valley Art Association Evening of Art. Johnny Beccera was awarded 2nd place in the photography category. Isabel Chavez was awarded taking 3rd place, also in photography. Digital Media students also took a field trip to MSJC to visit the Digital Media program. This coincides with their articulation project to receive 3.0 units for Digital Media 1 and another 3.0 units for Digital Media 2. Our Digital Media 2 students also took a trip to Warner Brothers Studios to view one of the worlds largest production companies facilities, and see how their skills align to the highest industry standard.

Kobi Aguilar

Proud of how far Kobi has come throughout these past few years of knowing him not only as a student but as an athlete during all seasons of the school year.

I am excited for his upcoming graduation and professional endeavors.

Valerie Ramirez

The reason for this nomination is Valerie has a knack for business. She has her own candle making & eyelash extension business. She has often come in with insightful business related questions on how she can continue to grow, market and further her success with her business. In addition to being business driven, she is kind and respectful and a true pleasure to have in class.

Tahla has a standing job offer to be trained as the first female foreman for McCarthy when she graduates in 2025.
