Lliw Valley George

On the date of Thursday 3rd of July, we went to the enchanting Lliw Valley reservoir on the edge of Felindre, Swansea. In the radiant reservoir we took part in stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, archery and rock climbing. We also wore safety equipment including helmets, harnesses, arm braces and suitable footwear like trainers.

Down in the activities there were amazing and astounding trees, and the beautiful, crystal water was moving like it had a life of its own It was freezing cold at first then it started to get warmer.

First, we did kayaks and worked together then we switched over to paddleboarding where we had fun. Then archery the best I shot was red and my arrows went a bit crazy, and we did rock climbing, and it was not too hard for us, and the experience was exhilarating, exhausting and electrifying, because we had so much fun and loved the experience. When we worked together in the kayaks it was challenging but enjoyable, I went forwards mostly and Habib would do most of the turning because he was at the back, but on the raft there was one person per corner, and we really struggled but it was worth it in the end.

In my summary, at first, we did kayaking and we had to paddle the kayak in pairs, me and Habib were together, we had some trouble, and I got hit by a paddle a few times, but all was well and after we did stand up paddleboarding. At first, we had a giant raft built from four paddle boards stacked together, then we took it apart and separated after a while I fell of the board then Irfan fell off his board next to me and we swam around for a bit. After a bit our paddleboards started to float away so we grabbed them back then Irfans paddle fell off his board and the handle hit my eye (I have a black eye now) then I got dragged off on my board. Afterwards we then had lunch and got changed. After we finished, we did archery after putting on the arm guard I shot my arrow five times then waited for everyone else, then I took my second turn and did not do too good. Then, after that we did rock climbing, I failed at first but after that I got all the way to the top then, we had to leave.

Mainly I enjoyed the restless and resistant rock climbing and kayaking. But none of this could have been done without the Old Dy’Vorians Association and I want to thank them for all the experiences and support in growing together and letting us work together. Overall, my favourite moment was the time I spent working together and having fun with friends.
