Rel. PRINCIPAL’S COLUMN
Welcome to Term 3
Welcome back!
We hope everyone had a relaxing and rejuvenating break and are ready for the exciting term ahead.
Our Senior students made the most of the holidays with their ski trip, returning with unforgettable memories from the slopes. Now, the countdown begins for Year 9, who will leave on their own ski adventure on Sunday 3 August. A BIG thank you to the dedicated staff who generously gave up their personal time to make these valuable extracurricular experiences possible. Your commitment is appreciated.
Our Principal is currently on leave until Week 4, and both Mr Borg and I look forward to stepping into the shared role of Relieving Principal during his absence.

It is fantastic to see our school canteen back up and running! Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we searched for a new operator. We are pleased to welcome Chinderah Takeaway as the new provider of our school canteen services. Their arrival has already brought smiles to many students – and staff too!

Bushfire Drill - Thursday
Our school will be conducting a Bushfire Drill on Thursday of this week. This drill is an essential part of our emergency preparedness plan and ensures students and staff are familiar with evacuation procedures. Please note: this is planned drill and there is no cause for concern. If your child contacts you during the drill, please reassure them that this is only a practice. We appreciate your support as we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our school community
Year 12 2025
As we begin Term 3, our Year 12 students are entering their final term of school. As Deputy Principal for Year 12 I, together with the Year Adviser Mr Ella will be meeting with students each Thursday during Homeroom to support them in areas such as wellbeing, study strategies, post-school planning and graduation preparations.
Year 12 should now be focused on preparing for their upcoming Trial HSC Examinations, which begin on 4 August 2025. These trial exams are a vital step in preparing for the HSC and give students a chance to consolidate their learning and build exam confidence.
Parents should now have received comprehensive information about the events and activities planned for this term, concluding with the Graduation Ceremony on Friday 26 September. We look forward to celebrating this significant milestone with our Year 12 students and their families.
Elevate Education Workshops - Empowering Senior Students
On Monday 22 July, our senior students engaged in inspiring and practical workshops delivered by Elevate Education, aimed at boosting motivation and refining study skills ahead of upcoming assessments.
Year 11 participated in the Student Elevation session, which focused on developing effective study routines and building motivation.
Year 12 attended The Finishing Line, a session designed to support students as they prepare for their Trial and final HSC exams.
Both sessions were highly engaging and provided students with valuable tools to improve their academic performance. These key strategies will be revisited and reinforced during homeroom over the coming weeks. Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, and we encourage them to implement these techniques as part of their daily study habits.
Exciting Week of Sport!
We have a huge week of sport at Kingscliff High School, with several exciting events and achievements to celebrate:

Winter Collective
Term 2 concluded with our spectacular Winter Collective of performances. I would like to extend my sincere thanks and congratulations to the talented students who performed, organised or supported the event, together with our very hard-working CAPA staff. Over three fantastic evenings, audiences were treated to vibrant displays of talent in Drama, Music and Dance from our students and those from our partner primary schools.
The Winter Collective was a powerful celebration of creativity and collaboration, highlighting the importance and strength of public education in fostering opportunities for artistic expression and excellence.

Discovering Ancient Egypt
Year 12 Historians Travel Back in Time at the Brisbane Museum
On Friday 25 July, a group of twelve enthusiastic Year 12 historians had the rare opportunity to step into the world of pharaohs, pyramids, and powerful deities during an enriching visit to the Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition at the Brisbane Museum.
The exhibition brought classroom learning to life and gave students a deeper appreciation of how advanced and enduring ancient Egyptian culture truly was.
The excursion not only deepened the historians’ understanding but also sparked new curiosity and discussion around archaeology, preservation, and the legacy of ancient civilizations in today’s world. It’s safe to say that our Year 12 historians returned to school with a newfound appreciation for the mysteries and marvels of Ancient Egypt.
