Our ride from Cusco to Machu Picchu

The journey passed through the incredibly scenic Sacred Valley

We stayed in Aguas Calientes amidst the very steep surrounding mountains

I found the setting of this Incan city as impressive as the construction (though most photos that I've seen focus on the construction.)

I had some fun with this resident llama at sunrise

These mountains are incredibly steep but the Incans were great at terracing.

We were there for the Winter Solstice which is when the sun passes through this window to hit an altar at just the right place. Another window does the same for the Summer Solstice. (Again, a crazy mountain range setting.)
