African Dance workshops

To ignite our dance curriculum as part of PE, all pupils across the school took part in an African dance workshop delivered by Dance Days. Their sessions included warm-ups to recent trending music and learning a routine. The children performed their pieces to the whole school in assembly and they brought great energy and enthusiasm for learning. We look forward to seeing what the children create as part of their dance topic.

Preparations are also underway in Year 6 for the annual Dance Festival where they will be performing to Rockin' All Over the World by Status Quo. A reminder to all parents of the children who have opted to take part that tickets are now on sale and will need to be purchased by Wednesday 17th January.

Girls Football tournament

Monkton Park are incredibly proud of the girls' football team who took part in the Level 3 football competition this week having won the Level 2 competition. Despite the cold, the children showed how brilliant they were by winning their first game. The next few games were a lot tougher but the children demonstrated such integrity and resilience to keep pushing and trying harder.

Wessex Water Visit

This week Badgers and PM took part in a workshop delivered by Wessex Water to coincide with their rivers topic. The interactive session included lots of practical activities such as filtering river water and recapping the water cycle. The children learned a lot of interesting facts that they have already begun to apply to their learning in class. We now look forward to our river walk next week!

Internet Safety workshop

Today the year 5 and 6 children in Foxes, Badgers and Pine Martens took part in a morning of Internet Safety and learning to develop digital citizenship. The children had a chance to be honest about their lives online, then talked through ways to stay safe and understand the online world.
