Residency Program Highlights

Emergency Medicine Department at their annual CORD Academic Assembly in Seattle, WA.

Our Department and the School of Community Medicine were strongly represented at this year’s CORD Academic Assembly in Seattle, Washington. Faculty and residents together delivered eleven national presentations across a range of academic tracks, including the Clinical Pathologic Case Competition, Research Forum, Best Practices sessions, and the Advanced Leadership Forum. Their contributions reflect not just the quality of our academic work, but also our collective commitment to advancing the mission of emergency medicine through service, scholarship, and mentorship.

Two leadership transitions were especially meaningful this year: • Dr. Boyd Burns completed his term as CORD President, having served during a time of tremendous change. His leadership was marked by humility, authenticity, and a steadfast belief in the power of community. As he often reminded us, “there is no easy path”—but by supporting one another, we make the journey worthwhile. • Dr. Joshua Gentges completed his tenure as Track Chair for the CORD Research Forum, where he helped steward national conversations around innovation and evidence-based education. His leadership helped ensure that academic inquiry remains central to how we train and grow future emergency physicians.
