NJHS Community Service project.
MSE Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee returned to MSE this year and it was a great competition! 8th Grader Alex J. took home the title in a spirited competition that lasted for 43 rounds! Great job to all of the competitors and a special thanks to our Literacy Specialist, Mrs. Warren, for putting it on!
MSE Parent Perception Survey
At Middle School East, we are committed to ensuring that all students experience a safe and healthy learning environment. To better understand your experiences as a parent or caregiver, we invite you to participate in the School Climate Survey for Parents and Families. This survey includes questions about your child’s learning experience, school safety, interpersonal relationships, and your perceptions of the school environment, as well as your involvement in school activities. Your input is crucial in helping us improve student engagement, learning conditions, and the overall atmosphere at MSE. Starting today, February 3rd, we encourage all parents, guardians, and caregivers to complete the School Climate Survey. Your responses are completely anonymous—no names or identifying information will be collected. When answering the survey questions, please reflect on your personal experiences with our school. Your participation will provide valuable insights that will guide us in enhancing the climate and culture of MSE. The survey results will help us develop strategies, procedures, and programs to make our school an even better place for our students and families. Please complete the survey by February 28th!
Yearbook Orders
If you would like to place an order for your child's yearbook, please use the information above. Additionally, if you are an 8th grade parent and would like to add a special "Farewell Message" please see the information below!
Attendance
With all of the breaks and snow days, it is more important than ever to make sure your child is in attendance on the days we have school. If they miss days they run a risk of falling further and further behind on classroom material. We understand that your child may get sick, but otherwise they should be in attendance. Missing just 2 days a month puts a student at a high risk of falling below grade level in achievement. If your child is sick, a doctors note, or a note from an urgent care facility, or a note for appointments is needed in order for that absence to be excused and not count against possible truancy charges for you and your child. The goal is for your child to miss less than 5% of the school year, which would be about 5-10 days. Please help us out and have your child present to achieve more!
Save the date: Conferences
Our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held this year on Thursday March 13 from 12:00-3:00 and 5:00-8:00PM. More information will be sent out soon with how to sign up to meet with your child's teachers. But for the meantime, please save the date!
Vision Screening
Due to the Ice Day that cancelled school, the Vision Screening for 7th graders has been rescheduled to February 27th. There is a small list of 8th graders that will need to be screened as well. If your student is prescribed glasses or contacts, please make sure they wear them that day. If you do not want your student to participate in the vision screening, please send a letter with your student to give to Mrs. Brossoit in the main office as soon as possible.
