The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team opens the 2024-2025 season on Saturday, and the program looks to continue their upward trajectory as part of the Northeast-10 conference. Last season, the Dolphins saw numerous program records fall throughout the regular season on their way to competing in their first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship meet. The Dolphins also secured their first victory in a conference meet when Men's Swimming & Diving defeated Pace University last year. In addition to the record-setting performances and a victory in NE-10 competition, the Dolphins received numerous accolades from the conference which were awarded to both men's and women's swimmers and divers. Several Dolphins also ranked among the conference leaders in a variety of events. At the conclusion of their season, the women placed seventh and the men placed fifth at their debut in the NE-10 Championship. At this meet, Jordan Swanson earned the first-ever medal for the Dolphins as part of their new conference when she took the silver in 1-Meter Diving. Her efforts on the diving board throughout the season also earned her a trip to Ohio for NCAA Nationals, the second consecutive year during which her scores qualified her for that meet. Soon after, Swanson was joined by Anthony Attenborough and William Kwan on the NE-10 Academic All-Conference Team. Finally, the program once again appeared on the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team as they were further recognized for their academic excellence. A program that consistently performs at a high level in the classroom and in the pool, Swimming & Diving enters the upcoming season with plenty to be excited about as they begin their second year in the NE-10. Check out a breakdown of the team's schedule below, as well as a look at some of the returning program record-holders.
2024-2025 SCHEDULE
OCTOBER 19, 2024 VS FDU-FLORHAM AND MOUNT SAINT MARY
The Dolphins will open their season on October 19th when they host FDU-Florham and Mount Saint Mary College for their second consecutive year. Both are Division III programs that have an extensive history against the Dolphins dating back to the 2017 season. The men have gone 5-1 against the Knight and 3-1 against the Devils. Their lone loss against each of those teams came as a Division III program back in 2017. The women are 2-2 against the Devils and 4-2 against the Knights. Like the men, the women have not lost a meet against Mount Saint Mary since 2017. The most recent victory for the Devils against the CSI women came last year when FDU visited Staten Island.
OCTOBER 25, 2024 VS ADELPHI & FELICIAN (W)
CSI's history against the Panthers dates all the way back to the year 2000 when the two programs met for the first time on both the men's and women's side. The men are 5-10 against the Panthers with their most recent victory coming during the 2022 season. The women are 2-13 against Adelphi with their two victories coming in their first two meetings with the Panthers over 20 years ago. As for their history with Felician, the CSI women are winless in two meets against the Golden Falcons. Those meets have taken place each of the last two seasons, one at home and the other at Montclair State University.
NOVEMBER 2, 2024 @ PACE
An opponent that the Dolphins will grow even more familiar with as part of the NE-10, CSI will visit Pace University for their second NE-10 meet of the 2024-2025 season. The men are 7-2-1 against the Setters and have defeated Pace each of the last two seasons. The women will be looking for their second win in eleven meets against Pace with their last victory coming all the way back in 2007, the first matchup between the two women's programs.
NOVEMBER 9, 2024 @ MONTCLAIR STATE (W) & HUNTER (W)
The Dolphins have a history against Montclair that spans five meets from 2016 through last season. When they face the Red Hawks this season, they will still be looking for their first win against Montclair in program history. As for their history against Hunter, the Dolphins and Hawks have a rivalry that extends all the way back to 1999 when CSI was a part of the CUNYAC Conference. Since their first meeting in 1999, the Hawks are 18-5 against the Dolphins. However, the Dolphins have won each of the last two meets against Hunter and will look to make it three straight when they face off this season.
NOVEMBER 22-23, 2024 - CSI INVITE
The Dolphins will host the CSI Invite for the third time this season as they welcome in three other programs to compete across a two-day weekend meet that spans four sessions. Among the other teams competing last year were fellow ECC program Roberts Wesleyan University, Sarah Lawrence College, The College of Saint Rose and Mount Saint Mary College. The meet was won by both the men and women of the College of Saint Rose.
DECEMBER 7, 2024 VS SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE
Among the three NE-10 programs the Dolphins will face this season will be Southern Connecticut State University for the second straight year. This time, it will be the Dolphins hosting the Owls after CSI visited SCSU last season. Always in the conference championship mix, the Owls are one of the NE-10's premier programs. When they faced the Dolphins last season, it was a decisive victory for the Owls. This year the Dolphins will look to score their first-ever win against SCSU in their home pool during their final meet of the 2024 calendar year.
JANUARY 14, 2025 VS ASSUMPTION
The Dolphins will face another NE-10 program for the first time in their history when they host the Greyhounds of Assumption University in their first meet of the new year in 2025. The meet will be the fourth of the season against the conference and their second straight at home. The CSI men did finish ahead of the Greyhounds at last year's NE-10 Championship while the women placed four spots behind the 3rd-place Greyhounds.
JANUARY 20, 2025 VS BARUCH
The Dolphins host their second meet of 2025 and penultimate meet of the season against Baruch on January 15, 2024. The Bearcats will be the first of two consecutive CUNYAC opponents that the Dolphins host to end the month of January when the Bearcats visit The Tank for the third straight year. The men have won 14 of the 19 meetings while the women have won 7 of 20.
JANUARY 22, 2025 VS BROOKLYN
The Dolphins will end the regular season against Brooklyn College this year when they host the Bulldogs at The Tank on January 22nd. The Dolphins also concluded the 2023-2024 season against Brooklyn at home during what was an abbreviated meet program. The CSI women have lost to Brooklyn just once in 17 meetings while the men have won 14 of 16 matchups. Last year's victory for the CSI men avenged the most recent loss to Brooklyn in 2020. Prior to that, the only other loss to Brooklyn for the men came in 2012. The women have not lost to the Bulldogs since their first-ever meet in 1999.
FEBRUARY 13-16, 2025 @ NORTHEAST-10 CHAMPIONSHIP
The Dolphins will wrap up the season with their second appearance in the Northeast-10 Championship in February. Last year's meet saw the men place fifth and the women seventh as the Dolphins capped off an impressive first year in their new conference. Most notably, Jordan Swanson earned the program's first medal in 1-Meter Diving on her way to an appearance in NCAA Nationals.
