We are looking forward to a Sizzling Summer!
Throughout the season, you will see your child/children improve their strokes; learn the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship, as well as self-confidence.
Our goal is to provide a safe and encouraging environment where our children will not only learn the technical aspects of swimming, but also experience team participation and healthy competition.
Swim level placement is primarily based on skills, not age. These levels are fluid and may be adjusted throughout the summer.

NOTE: Inclement weather and/or water conditions can occasionally cause a cancellation of a scheduled practice. We will make every effort to inform you as soon as we aware of a cancellation. We will also make every effort to provide an alternate dry-land practice session when space is available.
Attendance: Consistency is key!
A minimum of three practices per week is recommended.
Level Coaches
Levels 1 & Adaptive: Coach Ryland and Coach Theo
Levels 2-4: Coach Ryland, Coach Theo & Coach Chris
Ready for practice?
Your child should wear a swimsuit and sunscreen and will need to bring goggles, fins, a towel, and a water bottle. (Please clearly label all items with a waterproof marker.) Kick boards are available on deck.
We recommend suits, swim gear + shorts, t-shirts & athletic shoes for afternoons when the weather conditions are questionable.
Need gear? Order Here!
(Piranhas Team Colors are Royal Blue and White)
Viewing Practices:
Parents are not required to remain on-site throughout a scheduled practice. If you would like to stay, we request that you remain on the parking lot side of the pool deck during practices so as not to cause a distraction to our swimmers.
It is imperative that the coaches have the children’s complete attention. If you have an issue or a concern that you would like to talk over with one of the coach’s, please feel free to address it either before or after the practice.
SWIM MEETS:
Swim meet participation is strongly encouraged for all levels! Meets provide a valuable opportunity to track progress, build team spirit and encourage a positive spirit of competition. We will be using our website as our main system to pre-register for each meet. Entries must be entered online and will typically be due by Wednesday evening for most Saturday meets.
For our first "Virtual Meet", each swimmer can choose to swim a maximum of 4 individual events and may be included in one relay. For the remaining meets, other than our championship meet, each swimmer can choose a maximum of 3 individual events and may be included in one relay.
Once the swimmers have all committed to participate, coaches will review events, suggest any adjustments, approve events and place swimmers in relay events.
We will always do our best to include all swimmers in a relay, unless they have specifically indicated that they do not want to be included!

Age Group Events: Open to those in that specific age category.
*Swimmers may not swim an age group event and an open event of the same stroke. For example: A 10yr old cannot swim the 9 -10 50 free and then the Open 50 free.
The age up date for our summer league is JUNE 15th. This means that swimmers will continue to swim in the the age group they started in throughout the summer.
Swim Meet Warm Up Schedule and Meet Start Time:
Meet warm up: 8am Meet starts: 9am. Traditionally, these are the working times of a meet. If teams need to adjust, due to travel or other reasons, that change needs to be communicated to early to both teams so all are aware. The host coach will designate lane assignments for warm up. No equipment(kickboards, fins, etc) shall be used during warm up.
Additional warm up time will be provided to practice diving, for host pools with starting blocks.
TIMES & Stroke technique
Swim meet participation is encouraged but not required. These meets will be less about competition and more about providing an opportunity to track progress and build sportsmanship.
Stroke technique and sportsmanship will always be our primary focus!
SWIM MEET SPECTATORS~ NEW REQUIREMENT!
All spectators will need to scan in at the pool gate OR check in at the front desk prior to accessing the pool deck. This is a new requirement so it must be communicated to everyone participating in the summer swim league. If a person that is checking in at the front desk is not a member of the Y, or does not have a waiver on file, they will be required to fill out a waiver prior to heading the pool deck. They will be added to the system to avoid signing multiple waivers in the future.
CAMERA ZONES:
Acceptable “Camera Zones” may include, but are not limited to the side courses of a pool, team gathering areas, concession area, turn-end of competition course when not in use as a “start-end,” etc. Meet Management shall also designate “Non-Camera Zones.” Under NO circumstances will Camera Zones include the area immediately behind the starting blocks at either end of the racing course(s) while they are in use for “race starting purposes” during competition and warm-ups, locker rooms, restrooms, or any other dressing area. Any individual failing to abide by this rule could be subject to the Florida Swimming Code of Conduct violation as defined in Rule 239.2” and will be asked to leave the swim meet.
