Balanced Bodies, Empowered Minds

How can a variety of fitness styles improve physical wellness, build confidence, and help students discover sustainable ways to stay active throughout life?

This weeklong experiential project will expose students to multiple different fitness-style classes: Spin, Cardio Dance, Mat Pilates, Hot Yoga, Swim Aerobics and Barre, along with wellness-based activities: Sound Bath, Salt Cave and Sauna. Throughout the week, students will explore each fitness class while focusing on health, movement, and enjoyment over competition or intensity. This project promotes self-awareness, stress management, and confidence, helping students discover which movement practices are most meaningful to them.

Day 1

Today we started off the day with a HOT yoga class with Active Zen Yoga! The temperature got all the way up to 102 degrees! Unfortunately, no pictures were taken of our sweaty selves.... but look forward to our vlog at the week to see some clips!
We then headed to Meredith for some all organic smoothies from the Wellness Shop! We all loved this refreshing treat to help us recover from our morning workout.

We finished up the day by doing a mat style Pilates class with the Steady Edit! It was a great low impact workout to get the week started and get our bodies warm. Small moves with a big punch!
This was called "swimming"
Here is a lovely post that the Steady Edit made about coming to our school and getting to be apart of our project week experience! She highlights what this project is about: overall wellness!

Day 2

Today we started our morning at STRIVE indoor cycling.
Post-Workout Picture!
Molly and Ms.Jones getting ready to start cycling!
The studio we went to had these super cool headphones so you could control how loud the music was in class!

We went out to lunch together and then walked around down town Exeter! It was a beautiful day and got to be about 70 degrees! Such a great way to get some vitamin D.

Here is the salt cave that Ms.Thomas and Ms.Jones used! It was such a fun experience laying in the bed of salt and absorbing all the health benefits!

Day 3

We started our day off by going to Pure Barre in Bedford. This was a TOUGH workout!
Ryan’s mom joined us for this activity!
As a way to recover we stopped at Playa Bowls so we could have some açaí bowls and smoothies before lunch.
For our afternoon activity we participated in a sound bath. It was a deep meditative yoga session where different sound frequencies are played to align with our different chakras.
It was a very well deserved recovery session!

Day 4

We spent the morning doing some recovery husky mile laps. This helps our muscles recover from our tough week!
We then stepped out of our comfort zones and did some cardio dance!
This song was a TOUGH arm workout!
We finished our day by making smoothies and healthy dorm room treats!

Day 5

We started the morning with deep relaxation yoga. This was great after a week of intense exercise!!
