Full Circle Secrest Artists Series Presents: Tonality, with Alexander Lloyd Blake ('10)

As part of Wake Forest and Winston-Salem State University’s annual collaborative celebration to honor the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Secrest Artists Series presented Tonality, vocal ensemble, led by Alexander Lloyd Blake (’10).

During the concert, Tonality was joined by the Winston-Salem State University Singing Rams, the Wake Forest University Chamber Choir and a string quintet from Wake Forest University’s Symphony Orchestra.

"What a full circle moment to be back in North Carolina with Tonality. It was truly heartwarming to reconnect with friends I haven't seen in over a decade and retired professors who have been such a big part of my journey.

Witnessing the Wake Forest Choirs and Winston-Salem State University Singing Rams come together in collaboration with Tonality was nothing short of powerful, especially on MLK Day and the same day as the inauguration. The energy in the room was incredible.

On a personal note, this trip was more healing than I ever imagined.

Coming back to this place where I once wrestled with my identity and wondered what I could achieve...to be able to return, reflect, and be surrounded by people who have supported and celebrated my growth—it's a feeling I'll carry with me for a long time."
