AI and the Future of Coding

Linked below is an article that I read written by Rajiv Verma on the future of Coding and he gives his opinion on whether Artificial intelligence might affect jobs in the future that involve coding. For example, Digital Programmers who make code to make apps or websites. The article starts by stating that AI is great at automating repetitive tasks and how this helps coders on more complex tasks. It states how Chat GPT can be used for such tasks. Rajiv then goes on to state that he doesn't believe that AI can fully replace the job of the coder. He believes that they don't have the ability to understand the context or to think critically as humans do. He does believe that AI can be used by coders to work more efficiently. For example, there is an AI code assisting tool GitHub Copilot that suggests code as the user types. He then talks about a study conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on whether AI understands coding on a deep level. The study suggests AI doesn't have a deep understanding of programming concepts or design principles. The article concludes that at the moment AI isn't capable of fully taking over humans in coding but that it definitely has a place in being used in conjunction with humans to have the best of both worlds and improve efficiency in the world of coding.
