Director's Note

Thank you for coming to our production of Grease! I feel so fortunate to have worked with this amazing cast and crew this summer. In 2016, “Grease” was the first teen company production I got to assistant direct on with Joe. In my early years of directing, Joe made it a point to take me under his wing and teach me the ropes. He always made it a priority to treat me as an equal even though I was brand new to this and had thoughts that I was unqualified for this position altogether. I am so thankful to have friends and mentors like him that have continued to challenge me to rise to the occasion and to believe in myself that I can do this because they believe in me. It’s crazy how it was only 8 years ago and yet feels like a lifetime ago. When we were talking about the shows we wanted to do for the summer, I shouted “Grease” and was quickly vetoed because we wanted to try something new. However, “Grease” feels like my new “Annie.” I feel as though every student who goes through MYT should have their Grease moment (much apologies to the last graduating class, I didn’t make this realization in time for you). “Grease” is iconic, energetic and just fun — you just can’t frown listening to these songs! I couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated group of students who worked so hard to make this vision and the embodiment of their character come to life. And to the MYTeam, I am so lucky to call you my friends and my family, thank you for everything you do. ~Lindsay
