Clubs
Clubs restart this week & the website calendar has been updated to show which weeks there will be no clubs run by teachers. Teachers run these clubs voluntarily & there is no charge. Consequently we do not run clubs on weeks when staff are asked to take part in additional after school events e.g. staff training, PTFA events, joint staff / Governors meetings & parents evenings. It is extremely rare for a club to be cancelled - staff will arrange to swap / cover each other to avoid this. It is only in unforeseen circumstances that we cancel. If that is the case you will be contacted. To check whether clubs are on, please refer back to this newsletter or look at the website calendar rather than ring the office. If there are any changes we will contact by email or text.
Weeks when clubs will not run this term:
5th & 7th February (PTFA disco Feb 8th)
4th & 6th March (Staff / Governors meeting)
18th & 20th March (Parents Evenings)
Snow / Inclement Weather
We hope that we will not suffer disruption this term. However, should the school need to close the first communication with parents will be by text message.
Following this, the Caerphilly County Council Website will be updated – www.caerphilly.gov.uk - look for school closures.
We will also send out a tweet (follow us on @PontPrimary).
Occasionally the text messaging service is unavailable and websites sometimes struggle with high demand so please bear with us if there is a delay. Please note that if no communication has been sent by 8am then school is open as normal.
In periods of longer school closure, email will be used to keep parents informed of any further information that may be helpful.

Developing effective partnerships with parents
We've been looking at how to improve our partnerships with parents over the last 12 months. We'd really appreciate it if you could spare some time to give us some feedback on the things we've done and some ideas of how you'd like us to develop this further. MIDDAY SUPERVISOR & BREAKFAST CLUB VACANCIES
We currently have vacancies for a midday supervisor and for a Breakfast Club Supervisor. To apply for the midday supervisor role, please contact the school office for an application form (this post is employed by the school). To apply for the Breakfast Club position, please visit the CCBC website linked here and search for Pontllanfraith as a location. The Breakfast Club position is employed by Caerphilly Catering, not Pontllanfraith Primary School (Breakfast Clubs are run by Catering Services, not the schools).
New Parent Governor
We appealed for new Parent Governors last term but were only successful in filling two of the three vacancies (one parent whose term was expiring, applied to continue). Your child will bring home a letter from our Chair of Governors with a nomination form on the back. This information has been emailed out already with an EAS document providing more information for Prospective Governors (this can also be found on our website, linked here). If we receive more than 1 nomination we will hold a ballot so that the posts can be filled before our next Governing Body meeting on 5/2/24.
