This is a vintage postcard for Oahu, Hawaii. During this project I learned how to add images into text. My goal for this piece was to create a tropical vibe and include major places to visit and things to do in Oahu all in one piece. This was my first ever project in photoshop, and I’m proud of it. When my audience sees it, I hope that they want to go visit Oahu themselves to see the sites shown inside the letters.
This is a photo montage aimed at deterring people from smoking and emphasizing its deadly effects. During this project I learned how to combine separate photos into one to make it look realistic and as if they were always together. My goal for this piece was to make it as realistic as possible and to blend the elements successfully. Overall, I feel this project was fun to create and tested my skills in photoshop more than any other of my pieces. I hope that when my audience sees it, they will feel uneasy around smoking as well as encouraged to spread information concerning the topic.
This is a cut media book cover of the famous children’s book “Goodnight Moon” by Margaret Wise Brown. The specific media I chose for this artwork was watercolor paper. During this project I learned how to make an image/part of an image look like it’s made of one media, and add drop shadows to these new images. My goal for this piece was to reference the original book in features of my cover while taking my own spin on it. I feel that this is my best work out of this entire course, and I am happy with how it turned out, it’s exactly how I envisioned it. I hope that when my audience sees it, they will feel nostalgia if they’ve read the book, or curiosity if they haven’t.
This is a movie poster designed to use only 4 colors. During this project I learned how to convert a multi-colored image into one that uses only a few colors. My goal for this piece was to emphasize the spider elements of this fake movie, and make it seem as if the movie is an actual film, not just an idea for an art project. This piece definitely isn’t my favorite, but it was my favorite to create due to the simplicity of changing image colors. I hope that when my audience sees it, they will feel the spooky and somewhat humorous vibe I was trying to portray.
