WHY TRIESTE
5 years of Melges 24 national / EUROPEAN SERIES events hosted in Trieste: after a “long test” Trieste and Yacht Club Adriaco are ready to host a MAJOR EVENT (Worlds or Europeans)
39 races completed vs 40 races scheduled in 5 events
40 + active boats in Adriatic (20 + in Trieste area and 30+ in Slovenia & Croatia)
The Adriatic side of ITALY NEVER had the chance to host a European / World Championship in 30 + years of Melges 24 successful history.
If an European / World Championship is scheduled in Trieste there’s no doubt the Melegs 24 local fleet will easily double the number of active boats (target 30 / 35) the year before. A similar boost COULD happen in Croatia and Slovenia.
The municipality of Trieste and Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia ARE READY TO SUPPORT THE EVENT
Founded in 1903 the oldest Yacht Club of Adriatic is one of the most Olympic awarded yacht clubs in Italy.
YC Adriaco is located In the heart of the city (5 min walking from the central square) and has 860 members
A proven track record of events organized and co-organized in Trieste from ORC Worlds, Europeans Star, Class, Olimpic classes national championship, Barcolana Classic, youth classes national championship, etc.
