PRINCIPAL’S COLUMN

Year 6 Orientation Day

This week we look forward to welcoming our Year 7 2025 cohort, providing them with some familiarity and a sense of the positive learning experiences waiting for them next year. Many thanks to Ms Hawkey, Relieving HT Administration and to the many teachers at Kingscliff High School and our partner primary schools who will be supporting students on the big day.

Pottsville Beach Public School, Year 6 Graduation

Damien Borg, our Deputy Principal, is looking forward to joining the school community at Pottsville in celebrating a very significant day next Thursday. Many thanks to Mrs Frost, the Relieving Principal, for her kind invitation

School Excellence Plan 2025 – 28

Last Thursday evening our staff began the collaborative journey which will begin our new planning cycle. At this early stage, we are looking at a focus on:

  • Sustaining and building on literacy and numeracy outcomes
  • A continued focus on student wellbeing and school attendance
  • Positive pathways to post school destinations, be they further study, vocational training or employment.

We look forward to providing more detail and opportunities for parent / carer consultation in Term 1 2025.

Community Expectations

While most of our students are a strong reflection of positive community values, there have been some opportunities for some students to reflect on the way in which they would like to finish the 2024 school year:

  • Are we keeping our phones ‘off and away’ during school hours?
  • Are we arriving to school on time?
  • Are we cooperating with staff instructions?

I am looking forward to a positive ending to another busy school year.

GENERAL NEWS

Years 7 – 10 Academic and Sports Awards presentations, Monday 16 December 2024

The end of the year is rapidly approaching and, with it, day and evening assemblies which acknowledge student achievement. Day assemblies will be held to acknowledge consistency and improvement in all areas of student achievement, while the evening ceremony will provide an opportunity to recognise our high achievers in each year group.

All assemblies will take place in our MPU, with day assemblies occurring during the school day, and the evening assembly starting at 6:00 pm. Parents and carers of students who are part of our evening assembly are strongly encouraged to attend.

Schools Spectacular

We are so very proud of our Schools Spectacular students for their incredible performances last week at Qudos Bank Arena.

They came together with over 5000 students from Public Schools across NSW to perform in four incredible performances. Their hard work, stamina and dedication to create something truly spectacular has been inspirational. The production will be televised on channel 7 December 14. Congratulations girls, we can’t wait for next year!!

Year 8 Math Olympiad

Last week, our talented Year 8 students put their mathematical skills on show at the highly anticipated Math Olympiad which was held at Banora Point High School. Competing against schools from across the region, our team showcased exceptional problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and a passion for mathematics.

The Olympiad challenged students with complex problems requiring creativity, logic, and advanced mathematical reasoning. It was inspiring to see our students tackle each challenge with enthusiasm and determination.

A huge congratulations to our two incredible teams for securing an impressive third place!

Thank you to the students, teachers, and parents who supported this fantastic event.
