Financial Aid Updates
Students and parents can now make corrections to their FAFSAs, as long as your status is not "in review." A status of "in review" means that FAFSA has been submitted but not processed. Normally, the processing system needs 1-3 days to process a submitted FAFSA. Federal Student Aid has compiled a list of helpful tips on making corrections. Click the link below for more information!
Any student who has not filed the FAFSA is encouraged to do so as soon as possible - now is the time! Financial Authority of Maine (FAME) has an upcoming virtual help session all about comparing financial aid offers and paying the remaining balance. Click the link below to sign up!

The MHS Local Scholarship packet is due to D207 by 2:15 on Friday, May 3rd! Hard copies are available in the School Counseling Hub (D207), and you can access a digital copy below. Remember, these scholarships are for Marshwood high school seniors ONLY so we strongly encourage you to apply! Reach out to your school counselor or Mrs. Bolin if you have any questions.

All juniors received a presentation during advisory on Wednesday, April 24th all about what to do this spring and summer to explore postsecondary options and set themselves up for success senior year. Academic Support
Academic Intervention Center & Peer Tutoring!
Are you struggling in a class? Do you need help getting organized? If you answered yes to either of these questions, the Intervention Center in F106 is a great resource for you! Click the button below to access the virtual intervention center, full of links and helpful information. Students can access the intervention center either on their own or from a teacher/school counselor referral.
Students interested in working with a peer tutor (a MHS upperclassman) should email peer.tutors.mhs@rsu35.org with their name, class(es) they would like support in, and available study halls.
Community Service
Don't forget, 50 hours of community service is part of your graduation requirements. Setting a goal of completing 10 to 15 hours each year of high school will help to set you up for achieving this requirement in no time! Community Service forms are located in the D-Pod Hub, or can be printed from the MHS School Counseling Website (located within the "Information for ALL Grades" tab).
Community Service Spotlight: Summer Boost Program!
Interested in earning community service hours this summer? Consider the Summer Boost Programs at Great Works School and Marshwood Middle School! Responsibilities include helping out the classroom teacher, reading and playing games with students, playground supervision and helping out with student arrival and dismissal.
Students who volunteer can earn 60-65 hours of community service and get free breakfast and lunch every day of the program!
Summer Boost will take place from July 9th to August 1st on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (12 days total). Staff hours are between 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, and there will be a 2-3 hour training prior to the start of the program.

NEW Family Resource: Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Sanford
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) are behavioral health organizations that provide a broad range of community behavioral health services. CCBHCs focus on coordinated care and use of evidence-based practices for individuals across their lifespan, regardless of their ability to pay. We are happy to share that Sweetzer has received a grant to open a brand new mental health and substance use clinic in Sanford!
Services include, but are not limited to:
- Outpatient mental health and substance use screening, assessment & diagnosis
- Treatment for outpatient mental health and subtance use disorder
- 24/7 mobile crisis response and crisis stabilization
- Case management services
- Peer support services
- Psychiatric medication management and care coordination

Family Resource: Gather Mobile Market
Families who need access to fresh, healthy food can access the Gather Mobile Market in the parking lot of the Wentworth Douglass Hospital's Spinelli Building (15 Old Rollinsford Rd., Dover, NH). Gather will be at this location every other Monday from 12 pm to 2 pm. There are no obligations or requirements to access the food pantry. Family Resource: Footprints Food Pantry
Footprints Food Pantry (31 Old Post Rd. in Kittery) exists to reduce the impact of hunger in the community, share resources, and support the lives of those who have joined the Footprints community. They are open for food distribution on Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 PM, Wednesdays 9:30 AM-12:30 PM, and Saturdays from 9-10 AM. They also deliver to families who cannot access the food pantry in person. MHS Community Closet
The Marshwood High School Community Closet exists to provide new and gently used clothing, hygiene supplies, food, shoes, and other daily essentials at no cost to students in need and their families. The Community Closet empowers our school community to nurture compassion through service, and to foster awareness of our diverse population. The Marshwood Community Closet was spearheaded by the Interact Club, and is further supported by our Counseling department, Nurse, Administration, and community donors.
If you or someone you know would like to access the Community Closet, please reach out to your school counselor and/or the Nurse. This process is discrete and you can have regular access to these materials.
If you would like to donate to the MHS Community Closet, please email Emily Rumble, Interact Club advisor, at emily.rumble@rsu35 to set up a time to drop off materials. The closet is currently FULL of women's clothing, but they are in need of the following items:
- Hangers
- Men's dress clothes (ties, button ups, dress pants)
- Hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, etc. (Winter gear)
- Shoes (especially sneakers)
- Non-perishables
- School supplies (pencils, backpacks, pens, etc.)
