Five More Wins Brings Total to 10 for Softball in Sunshine State
After opening their spring trip 5-1 last week, the Colby Softball team matched their mark in the second half, bringing their record to a powerful 11-2 as they return to Maine to begin NESCAC play.
With wins over Luther, MIT, Oberlin, Kalamazoo, and Augustana, Colby's lone blemish was a tight 3-1 loss to St. Lawrence. The offense certainly matched the Florida heat, crossing the plate 48 times in their five wins (almost 10 runs per game). Ella Wilcox collected four-hit games against Luther and Kalamazoo, while Carissa Cassidy struck for four herself against Oberlin. Emma Burnham had a strong performance in Colby's win over MIT with three hits and three RBIs, helping the Mules hand the Engineers just their second loss of the season.
Pitching was just as efficient as KC DeSarno and Sharlotte Stazinski each earned a pair of wins in the circle. Sophia Meade had four appearances in six games and earned the final win of the trip, coming on in relief and holding Augustana at bay as Colby completed the comeback.
The Mules will stay busy this week with six games back in the Pinetree State. Colby will host UMF for a set Wednesday before opening conference play this weekend against Tufts and Bates.
#11 Women's Lacrosse Sweeps Three Game Slate
The Mules were unstoppable this week, outscoring opponents 46-15 over a three-game span. With dominant victories over Union, Westfield State, and Conn. College, Colby has extended its win streak to four straight.
The offensive explosion began in Schenectady, where Colby secured a 10-7 win over Union. Charlotte Michener led the scoring with a hat trick, while Kristin Podgorni fueled the offense with a team-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists). Two days later, Colby put on a historic clinic at Westfield State, dismantling the Owls 22-4. In a game that saw 15 different Mules find the back of the net, Stella Regan led all players with five points (3 goals, 2 assists), while Podgorni dominated the draw circle with 10 draw controls. Colby returned home on Saturday to cap the week with a 14-4 NESCAC victory over Conn. College. The Mules pulled away during a massive third-quarter surge, outscoring the Camels 6-0 to break the game open. Ainsley Burke and Podgorni each delivered a hat trick as Julia Maimonis added a balanced two assists and a goal. Regan was a big factor contributed three assists. The defensive unit, anchored by Brynna Hall’s four saves, held the Camels to just 11 total shots.
The 3-0 stretch improves Colby's record to 5-3 on the season as they prepare for Endicott Wednesday before heading into the heart of their conference schedule.
Colby Concludes Southern Swing with Strong 3-1 Finish
After a tough test against a top-5 powerhouse in Emory, Colby Women's Tennis found their rhythm in Hilton Head, winning all three matches. The team displayed remarkable efficiency to close the week, dropping only one total point across their three victories.
The week began in Atlanta with a 7-0 loss to the #5 Eagles. Despite the sweep, the Mules proved their resilience in several tightly contested matches, including a standout performance from Ella Novion at No. 2 singles, where she took the first set before falling in three. The team quickly turned the page as they moved to South Carolina, igniting a three-match win streak starting with a 7-0 shutout of Wis.-Whitewater. This victory saw the Mules sweep all three doubles flights and grind out several three-set thrillers in singles, including a gritty 10-6 tiebreaker win by Novion at the top flight and a 10-8 tiebreaker for Michaela Landry at No. 2. Colby saved their best for a high-intensity final day in Hilton Head, playing two matches in a single day and surrendering only one point across both contests. The morning started with a second consecutive 7-0 sweep, this time over Carleton. Jade Finestone led the charge at No. 1 singles, outlasting her opponent in a marathon 12-10 tiebreaker. The afternoon session saw Colby defeat Oberlin 6-1 to officially wrap up the road trip. The Mules were nearly untouchable at the top of the ladder against the Yeowomen; Novion (6-0, 6-1), Soumya Wijesekera (6-1, 6-1), and Tina Barrow (6-1, 6-0) combined to drop only four total games across the first three flights.
Having now won three straight (4-5 record), Colby returns home with momentum as they head back into NESCAC play.
Mules Respond with Dominant Conference Win Over Conn. College
After coming up short in a mid-week battle against MIT, Colby Men's Lacrosse responded with a statement performance on the road, holding Conn. College scoreless for the final 43 minutes of play to secure a commanding 12-4 conference win.
The week began at home with a high-scoring 15-9 loss to MIT. Despite the result, the Mules’ offense remained aggressive, outshooting the Engineers 43-39. Daniel O'Connor, Easton Bello, and Jacob Thibodeau each netted two goals, while Tristan Bassett was a workhorse at the faceoff position, winning 17 draws to keep Colby in the hunt until a late MIT surge in the fourth quarter. The Mules took the lessons from that loss into Saturday’s clash in New London. After falling behind 4-2 early in the second quarter, Colby’s defense became an impenetrable wall, shutting out the Camels for the remainder of the game. This defensive stand allowed the offense to ignite for 10 unanswered goals. O'Connor was unstoppable, leading all scorers with five goals and an assist, while Eli Chilicki delivered a clinical four-goal, one-assist performance. In the cage, Will Heisler was exceptional, turning away 10 shots to anchor the victory. Tristan Bassett had a great game as well scooping up a game-high seven ground balls to ensure the Mules maintained possession and secured their first NESCAC win of the season.
The 3-5 Colby Men's Lacrosse Team will head to MMA Wednesday to closeout the 2026 non-conference slate before heading to Amherst Saturday.
Baseball Surges Late for Victories Against Union, Middlebury
The second half of Colby's southern trip provided plenty of fireworks as the Mules secured two come-from-behind victories to return to Maine with an 11-6 record.
The week opened with a Tuesday night showdown with Union. Despite falling behind 7-2 in the middle innings, Colby relied on clutch hits and a dominant relief performance by Matt Mahoney on the mound to upend the Garnet Chargers. Colby closed the gap with three runs in the sixth, drew to within one with a Max Diamond home run in the eighth, and knotted the score in the top of the ninth with a Tony Silva round tripper. A bases loaded double by Henry Silva cleared the bases and gave Mahoney all the support he needed to close out the game. Seven of the eight outs secured by the reliever came by way of strikeout.
The latter part of the week saw a three-game set with NESCAC foe Middlebury. Despite falling in the opening pair, Colby righted the ship in the finale, this time erasing a 6-3 deficit to come away victors 7-6. Jeb Burkhart provided the majority of the run support, bashing a three-run home run in the second and pushing across the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single. Mahoney once again threw impactful innings in relief, holding the Panthers scoreless in the final two frames to secure his second win in five days.
Colby will host Plymouth State Tuesday before opening NESCAC play this weekend in Medford.

Men's Tennis Rolls Past Cal Lutheran 6-1
Facing a gauntlet of West Coast talent, the Mules highlighted their spring trip with a convincing 6-1 victory over Cal Lutheran and a wire-to-wire 4-3 thriller against Occidental, showing they can compete with the region's best.
To begin their Golden State series, Colby showcased their competitive fire in a narrow 4-3 loss to Occidental that came down to the final sets. Colby jumped out to an early lead by clinching the doubles point, fueled by strong performances from the pairings of Jason Daly and Marco Ziets-Segura, as well as Bilal Asim and Diego Sosa. In singles play, Asim remained untouchable at the three flight with a straight-sets win, while Antonio Lee displayed incredible grit to take his match in a three-set marathon. Though the Tigers narrowly escaped with the win, the Mules proved their depth against a high-caliber opponent. Later in the week, Colby had their most complete performance of the trip, a 6-1 win over Cal Lutheran. The Mules were dominant in singles, claiming five of the six matches. Daly set a professional tone at No. 1 with a clinical 6-3, 6-2 victory, while Asim and Ziets-Segura followed suit with poised wins of their own. The afternoon reached its peak at the No. 5 spot, where Matthew Jeong outlasted his opponent in a dramatic 7-6 (8-6) third-set tiebreaker to put an exclamation point on the team win. While the Mules also faced top-tier programs in No. 16 Pomona-Pitzer and Caltech, the 6-1 losses were defined by Jason Daly’s individual statement win at the top flight against the ranked Sagehens and the team's overall ability to dictate play in California.
Men's Tennis (3-5 overall, 1-1 in conference) will return to the Pine Tree State with only NESCAC games remaining including the next six taking place in Maine.
