Boys Basketball

12-17 Overall Record - 6-6 in WSC - 4th Place West Suburban Conference

LT started their season hosting their own Thanksgiving Tournament. They had multiple key victories over top competition including York, Proviso East, Oak Park/River Forest and Hinsdale Central twice.
The boys played well at the York Holiday Invitational where they went 2-2 over the four day tournament. The Lions also hosted their annual "Blackout" game and participated in the Mental Health Awareness Pack the Place.
In the IHSA Regional, LT upset a tough St. Ignatius team to advance to the Regional final. They played well in the IHSA Regional final, but ultimately lost to top seeded Curie

Girls Basketball

20-12 Overall Record - 8-4 in WSC - 3rd Place in the West Suburban Conference - IHSA Regional Champions

The girls basketball team started strongly and won their first five games including four in the LT Thanksgiving Tournament to win their own tournament.

The Lions went on to win 20 games during the season and took third place in the WSC Silver Division. They beat Willowbrook in the WSC crossover game.

LT participated in the Mental Health Awareness Pack the Place for the second year in a row. The girls’ basketball program also held their fourth “Think Pink” game to raise awareness and money to donate for cancer research. LT went on to win their IHSA Regional by defeating Mother McAuley in the regional championship after losing to them earlier in the year. Nora Ezike was recognized as an All-State Athlete (3rd Team - Illinois Basketball Coaches Association).

Special Olympics Basketball

Blue Team Finished in 4th Place in State

The blue, gold and white teams each played a full schedule this year. They improved with each game and positioned themselves for the state playoffs.

The LT Blue team made the trip down to Bloomington for the state tournament.

The blue team took 4th place in state for their division. All three teams had great performances and exciting games over the course of the basketball season.

Bowling

Overall Record 8-2 - IHSA Regional Champions - 5th Place in the IHSA Sectional - State Qualifier - Finished in 18th Place in the IHSA State Meet

The LT Bowling team had another great season. They challenged for the top spots in many of the invitationals. They won both the Glenbard North and Lake Park Invitationals as a team.

LT Bowling started their post season run by winning the IHSA Regional Championship. They followed up that performance with a 5th place finish in the IHSA Sectional. Their score was high enough to qualified them for the state meet as a team.

In the state meet, LT took 18th place as a team. They were led by Danny Haley and Cesar Izguerra who finished in 30th and 34th place as individuals.

Competitive Cheer

West Suburban Conference Champions - Placed in 3rd in the IHSA Sectional - Qualified for State - Finished in 16th Place in State

The competitive cheer team had another tremendous season in the winter of 2023-24.

The competitive cheer team had some quality performances during their regular season. They finished their regular season with a West Suburban Conference Championship by finishing in first place in the eleven team competition.

LT Competitive Cheer finished their season with a strong postseason push. They finished in 3rd place in their IHSA Sectional in the Coed Division to qualify for state for the third year in a row. At state, they took home a 16th place finish for their best finish at state in program history.

Girls Gymnastics

2nd Place West Suburban Conference - IHSA Regional Champions - 5th Place in the IHSA Sectional

The girls gymnastics team had a season where they saw their hard work pay off as their scores continued to increase as time moved on. Their high score of the year which was a 138.975 was achieved in the IHSA Regional.

By winning the IHSA Regional Meet, they qualified for the IHSA Sectional as a team.

LT finished in 5th place in the IHSA Sectional meet as a team. Emily Tucker qualified for the state meet as an individual on the Uneven Bars and finished in 12th place at the state meet.

Boys Swimming and Diving

4-3 Record in Dual Meets - 3-2 Record in the WSC - 3rd Place WSC - 2nd Place in the IHSA Sectional - 27th Place in State

The boys swimming and diving team had another great year. Despite the incredibly difficult schedule, they were still able to earn a 4-3 record in dual meets. They also won the Marmion Cadet Relay Invitational.

With multiple personal best times at the tail end of the year, the boys swimming and diving team was able to finish in 2nd place in the IHSA Sectional and qualify ten swimmers and divers in three relays and seven individual events.

The boys finished the season in 27th place in state. There were seven state medalists and All-State swimmers. The All-State swimmers were Declan Vahey, Jake Thorell, Jack Hannon, Matthew Ferguson, Lachlan Gantt, Peter Smith, and Jack Dillon.

Wrestling

8-8 Record in Dual Meets - 2-4 Record in the WSC - 4th Place West Suburban Conference

The Lions started the year with their annual alumni event. Over 100 wrestling alumni came back to celebrate with this year's team.

They went on to earn multiple individual medals at the Barrington, Wheaton-Warrenville South and Hinsdale Central Invitationals. At the IHSA Regional, they qualified 5 wrestlers to the IHSA Sectional.

Gunnar Garelli took 2nd place in the sectional at the 165 pound weight class. He went on to finished in 2nd place in the state to earn a state medal and All-State recognition for the second year in a row.

The LT Winter Season was incredibly successful. There was one conference championship (Competitive Cheer), three IHSA Regional Champions (Girls Basketball, Boys Bowling and Girls Gymnastics) and four teams that qualified to the state competition (Special Olympics Basketball, Boys Bowling, Competitive Cheer and Boys Swimming and Diving). LT also sent individuals to state in two other sports (Girls Gymnastics and Wrestling). Three teams finished with a top twenty-five state finish (Boys Bowling 18th, Competitive Cheer 16th and Special Olympics Basketball 4th).

There were also 13 student athletes who attended the two National Letter of Intent signing days for the winter (Nathan Anderson, Ramiro Constantino, Kaitlyn Filkins, Alita Folkening, Ryan Jackson, Jack McQueeney, Tommy Newcomb, Sienna Olson, Noah Pfafflin, Joey Severson, Nick Strayer, Eddie Tuerk, Danny Zarco).

Nine student-athletes earned All-State honors in three different sports:

  • Girls Basketball (1) (Nora Ezike)
  • Boys Swimming and Diving (7) (Jack Dillon, Matt Ferguson, Lachlan Gantt, Jack Hannon, Peter Smith, Jake Thorell and Declan Vahey)
  • Wrestling (1) (Gunnar Garelli)

There were also 50 seniors who earned West Suburban Conference All-Academic status this winter.
