End of Summer League Competition + Giving Season is Coming Up!

Topgolf’s 80 U.S. venues will host a giving campaign in the United States from September 15 through October 31, giving players the opportunity to donate to Special Olympics sports, health, and leadership programming by rounding up to the nearest dollar on their final bill.

In addition, a portion of the proceeds from online reservations using code special23 will go to Special Olympics. Topgolf has committed to donate up to $50,000 based on total reservations made with that access code from September 15th through October 31st.

On October 27 and 28, Law Enforcement Torch Run® officers, athletes, and families will be at participating Topgolf locations to educate players about Special Olympics and collect donations. All funds collected will directly support Special Olympics locally.

True Tales by Disability Advocates

A Podcast Co-Hosted by SOTX Athlete Leader Kamand

"Awkward Moments" is being launched in March 2023, featuring two female storytellers with international stories in recognition of International Women's Day. For the first time, we feature a member of our multi-talented working group as storyteller and host.

The great thing about us humans is that we are all a beautiful tapestry of individuality and commonality. The great thing about awkward moments is that they are a bridge between our individual and shared experiences, they connect us, everyone has them, and they are part of being human. Awkward moments can be embarrassing but when we recognize everyone has them we can turn them into playful stories that build connections. We hope this episode highlights the gifts and resilience an awkward moment can offer us all.

Steaks & Two Steppin' benefit concert aims to raise $75,000 for Special Olympics Texas West Region

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) - by Matthew Watkins Fri, August 25th 2023

“This money stays in the panhandle,” said Jeanette Thorne, executive director of Special Olympics West Region. “It will help with our competitions. It will help with our athletics training and it will help those athletes go through training on how to get a job.”

Jeanette Thorne has volunteered for Special Olympics for 25 years and worked as a staff member for three more years. Of the five million participants in Special Olympics around 1,500 live in the Texas Panhandle.

Thorne tells ABC 7 News that people attending Steaks and Two Steppin will learn the non-profit does more than just provide opportunities to play sports.
