Welcome to the the 2023-2024 Broughal Music Blast! Hey, Broughal Music! Our Spring Trip to Dorney Park is less than one week away! We're so excited to travel, perform, and have fun at Dorney! Spring Trip (Dorney) - Friday, 5/17

The Spring Trip to Dorney Park is almost here! Please review the following information for some friendly reminders. For more specific details, please check out your trip packet. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

SCHEDULE
  • 7:20 AM - Report to Broughal
  • 7:50 AM - Load bus
  • 8:20 AM - Bus leaves
  • 6:30 PM - Award Ceremony
  • 7:00 PM - Bus leaves for Broughal
  • 7:30 PM - Arrive at Broughal; unload bus
WHAT TO WEAR
  • Trip T-Shirt (will receive this week)
  • Jeans/Shorts (no ragged, patchy shorts/jeans)
  • Socks
  • Sneakers
SPENDING MONEY

Please keep in mind that Dorney Park is now CASHLESS. Students can convert their cash into cards at select locations within the amusement park. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

Trip Payments due Thursday, 4/4

All Spring Trip (Dorney) payments were due on Thursday, 4/4. The trip cost for students is $160 per person, while the trip cost for chaperones and tag-alongs is $155 per person. If you have a Dorney Pass, the trip cost for students is $126, while the trip cost for chaperones and tag-alongs is $121. Please make payments via cash, check, or money order. Checks or money orders should be made payable to "BMPO." If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

6th Grade Explorer Band

Broughal Music has a new opportunity for students - 6th Grade Explorer Band! Explorer Band will take place DURING THE SCHOOL DAY (every Tuesday, Period 4) and includes 6th grade students who play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. The goal of this group is to increase student participation, develop ensemble skills, and make music with our friends! We will use the Sound Innovations method book and other resources to make music. Please make sure you tell your Period 4 teacher BEFORE you come to the Band Room (Room 155). Please bring your instrument and method books to rehearsals. If you have any questions, please talk to Mr. Stoltz.

Handbook Forms Due - Wednesday, 10/4

Like past years, we will be using Google Forms to collect your responses for your Handbook Forms. CLICK HERE to access and complete your forms. If you need paper copies of the Handbook Forms, please contact one of the Directors. All electronic and paper Handbook Forms were due by Wednesday, 10/4. Don't forget to fill out the paper BASD Medical Form (English | Español) in addition to the electronic forms!

Volunteers Needed

One of the most helpful ways to assist Broughal Music is by volunteering! Depending on the event, you'll be assisting and supporting students and directors so that EVERYONE can have a successful, stress-free performance/event! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org) as soon as possible and let him know which of the following events you would like to volunteer for:

  • Fri, 5/24: Fountain Hill Memorial Day Ceremony
  • Fri, 5/24: Uniform Collection

Please note that adult volunteers must have active clearances on file with the Broughal Music Department BEFORE volunteering. Additionally, community service students are limited to students currently attending Liberty High School or Freedom High School. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors.

Hershey's Candy Fundraiser

Our first fundraiser ended! Students should return $104 to the BMPO. All money and orders were due on Thursday, 9/21! For each box sold, students earn $42 towards their Broughal Music account. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

$50 Fair Share Due Thursday, 9/21

The $50 Fair Share was due on Thursday, 9/21. We use this money to purchase music, supplies, clothing, food, and beverages. We also use these funds to pay for transportation, field trips, and various items and events throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

Broughal Music has created the following Student Fundraiser Plan and Monthly Payment Plan to help students and families pay for trips and Fair Share. Please note that these plans are optional. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors.

Student Account Information

Want to know how much money is in your child's account and how much money you owe for Fair Share and the Spring Trip? Check out the Broughal Music website or the following button/link. The document is organized by Student ID number, so make sure you have the ID number ready. If you cannot find your child's ID number, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org).

LESSON SCHEDULE

Do you know when your next lesson is? Have you been practicing your instrument? Check the Lesson Schedule regularly so that you are prepared for your next lesson. Remember, you need to attend 17 lessons AND earn 8 belts per instrument in order to attend the Spring Trip!

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Students should report to the main entrance on Morton Street at 7 AM.

Rehearsal starts promptly at 7:55 AM. Students who wish to eat breakfast beforehand should arrive by 7:45 AM.
