A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Spring is in the air, and there’s so much to celebrate across the Muskego-Norway School District! From our high school robotics team heading to compete at the FIRST World Robotics Championship in Houston, to Mill Valley 4th graders proudly singing the National Anthem at an Admirals game, to the excitement building for events like the “Under the Sea” Daddy-Daughter Dance on April 25 and the Best Buddies Walk on April 26, there’s no shortage of incredible moments happening in our schools.
On top of all that, we are incredibly proud to share that our district was once again named a Top Workplace, ranking 5th overall in the large company category. We also received the Top Workplace Meaningfulness Award for ranking #1 out of all the top workplaces on the survey question: My job makes me feel like I am part of something meaningful. These honors matter because they reflect something we already know to be true: our staff loves what they do. They see the immense value in the work, the privilege of shaping young lives, and the power of the daily opportunities to help students learn, grow, and succeed.
That energy and purpose fuel our success, and so does your partnership and support. Whether you’re cheering from the stands, volunteering in classrooms, or simply encouraging your child to give their best each day, you’re a key part of what makes our district one of the best in the state.
Thank you for believing in our mission, supporting our staff, and helping build a community where our schools thrive. Together, we make Muskego-Norway an extraordinary place.
Let’s keep showing the world what it means to be 1Warrior!
Parent Experience Survey
Muskego-Norway Schools is committed to engaging our parents and families in every child’s education. To continue our journey to excellence in this area, we gather data from stakeholders to determine where we are as a district and to set and act on realistic, measurable goals for continuous improvement. The Parent Experience Survey allows parents to provide feedback on their experience with their child’s school.
This year’s survey window will be open until April 23. Each school has shared a link via the weekly family newsletter. If you did not receive a link, please contact the building administrator of the respective school your child(ren) attends. Thank you in advance for making time to complete the survey and provide feedback about your experiences with our schools.

Retirements
A hearty congratulations goes out to the following staff who have been approved by the School Board to retire at the end of the 2024-25 school year. Collectively, they have put in many years of service to the profession, students, and community, and we are thankful for all of their commitments to bring our system to higher ground. We wish each of them the very best in their next adventures.
May Teacher Appreciation
May 5-9 is Teacher Appreciation Week. We invite you to send a teacher a note of gratitude and/or participate in your school’s individual PTO celebrations if applicable. The dedication of our teachers is at the heart of MNS, and we are grateful to have a whole week dedicated to appreciating these individuals.
Best Buddies Friendship Walk
Muskego-Norway Schools is proud to host the Best Buddies Friendship Walk on Saturday, April 26 from 9-10 a.m. at the Muskego High School Track (meet at the concessions area). Come be a part of this fun-filled, meaningful event! Water and snacks will be provided, and amazing raffle prizes will be available for participants. In case of inclement weather, we will meet at the main entrance of Muskego High School, and the walk will take place indoors.
The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the leading walk in the country supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Join over 50,000 participants across 80 walks worldwide to promote inclusion through Best Buddies programs in schools, workplaces, and communities. Let’s walk together to create a more inclusive world—one friendship, one job, and one life-changing connection at a time. We hope to see you there!
Threats are Taken Seriously
Please remember that if you or your children see or hear something suspicious to immediately say something to an administrator, a School Resource Officer, or call the local police department. We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for our students, and we are fortunate to have great partnerships with you, our parents/guardians, in our district. With threats occurring more often in school districts, it is important that we take a moment to lean on this partnership and ask you to have a conversation with your children regarding the serious implications of making a threat on a school. Such behavior may leave a lasting impact on a child’s education and future. The impact on the entire family is profound. Rather than waiting, we are asking you to personally discuss this issue with your children now. Whether a student perceives making a threat as a joke or not a big deal, making a threat on a school could result in suspension, expulsion, and/or being charged as an adult with a felony. According to State of WI statue 947.015: “Whoever intentionally conveys or causes to be conveyed any threat or false information, knowing such to be false, concerning an attempt or alleged attempt being made or to be made to destroy any property by the means of explosives is guilty of a Class 1 felony.”
We continue to encourage our students and school community to report through Speak Up Speak Out (SUSO) anything that could constitute a threat to school safety. As always, we work closely with local law enforcement to assist in these situations. Thank you for taking a moment to have this discussion with your children.
School Safety
Please know that Muskego-Norway Schools have safety plans and practices in place to prepare our school community for a crisis. Safety efforts and practices include:
- Three (3) Muskego Police Officers, serving as School Resource Officers in our buildings. We lead Waukesha County and all rural school districts in southeast Wisconsin when it comes to staffing police in our schools.
- District and school-level Emergency Response Teams who meet regularly with the Muskego Police Department to research and implement the most up-to-date procedures in protecting our students and staff from dangers in a crisis, as well as disseminating to staff at all buildings our safety procedures and protocols to follow.
- Safety plans are reviewed and approved annually by the Muskego-Norway School Board.
- All external doors are locked during school hours and we have supervised main entrances at all of our buildings.
- Visitors need permission to enter school buildings using an official ID.
- Annually, MNSD conducts all state mandatory drills, including two "lockdown" drills.
- Background checks are required for volunteers and staff members to enter into our schools and work with students.
- Students who leave the learning environment during school hours and return are required to check-in through the front office.
We know that schools are safer when students, staff, and families work together to reduce violence and address potential safety issues. We are asking that you continue to monitor your child’s and others’ online and social media activity and report any school safety concerns to law enforcement and school officials immediately. We are grateful for your partnership as we work together to keep our children safe.
School Board Election Results
The Muskego-Norway School Board spring election was held on April 1, 2025. Congratulations to our elected school board members, Laurie B. Kontney and Christopher Szolyga. Their term of office is three years beginning on April 28, 2025.
