As a Graduate Structural Engineer on our dynamic and growing team, you will contribute to the design of projects with some of North America and Europe’s leading architects. Guided by senior engineers, you will expand your structural engineering skills by designing with the full range of structural materials, including our specialty and passion – mass timber.

We specialize in mass timber structures, long span roofs, tall wood buildings, free-form timber structures and bridges. Our head office and manufacturing facility is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley in British Columbia, close to the growing Abbotsford airport. We also have design offices in Vancouver, Seattle, WA and Trento, Italy. While these position openings are primarily based in our Abbotsford headquarters, we are open to applicants to our other locations also.

ROLE DETAILS:

  • Collaborate and assist senior engineers in the developing structural designs and analysis for a variety of projects.
  • Prepare calculations, sketches and technical documentation to support designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to engineering reports and drawing packages for clients.
  • Liaise with internal project management, shop, and site teams to assist in ensuring projects are delivered on time and budget, and meet fabrication and erection constraints
  • Visit project sites as necessary to monitor progress in accordance with the design and ensure compliance.
  • Assist the engineering team in the development and maintenance of internally developed design tools and guides.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Graduate Engineer in Training with one to four years of experience. Recently qualified Professional Engineers are also welcome.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals, combined with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with design and analysis software (further training provided). Knowledge of relevant material and building codes (further training provided)
  • Experience working with 3D modelling software such as Rhino/Grasshopper an asset but not required.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • A commitment to professional development and progression to licensure.
