Diocese of Lubbock to celebrate annual Rural Life Mass - LOCATION CHANGE
Updated: May 3 to reflect the location change.
LUBBOCK – Most Rev. Robert Coerver, Bishop of Lubbock, will celebrate the Annual Diocese of Lubbock Rural Life Mass Monday, May 5 at 6 p.m., in Shallowater at Saint Philip Benizi Catholic Church (908 Avenue J).
All people of good will are invited to join for Mass, and participants may bring containers or sacks of soil and seed, which Bishop Coerver will bless.
A supper will follow the Mass and participants may bring side dishes or desserts to share.
The Mass is a chance to pray for all who work in the agricultural industry, their safety, good conditions for a bountiful harvest, and a just price for the crops.
Since the inception of the rural life ministry in the Lubbock Diocese, its centerpiece has been a yearly Mass and dinner celebration on or near the May 15 Feast of Saint Isidore and his wife, Santa Maria de la Cabeza, patron saints of farmers, peasants, day laborers, rural communities, and the United States National Rural Life Conference.
