A fantastic start to Wednesday Term 1 Sport!
What a brilliant start to our Years 7-10 Wednesday Term Sport Program! A huge thank you to all the parents and carers for your quick response to payments and online consent notes. Term 1 always comes with a fast turnaround, and your efficiency has made all the difference.
To our students, well done on navigating the selection process, seeking solutions to any concerns, and stepping up with great responsibility. Everyone has been arriving at the right place, on time, and ready to play—exactly how we want sport to run.
Such a smooth start speaks volumes about our fantastic student cohort... or it could mean we’re in for a few surprises soon! Either way, let’s keep up the great energy and teamwork. I'm looking forward to another great week ahead.
Well done and thanks everyone!

CAPAL news
ARTEXPRESS exhibition at Lismore Regional Gallery
Exciting news! The ARTEXPRESS exhibition at the Lismore Regional Gallery is officially open. We are thrilled to see 2 of our 3 nominated students, Sophia SCH and Juniper S featured in this outstanding showcase of 2024 HSC Visual Art students.
On the evening of Friday 21 February, Byron Bay High School Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) teachers, past and present, were honoured to stand alongside the students and their families. We admired their exquisite artworks, and that of other talented individuals from the region and state. The evening also involved a moving speech that reinforced just how meaningful it is to have this event brought to our region, highlighting the dedication and hard work behind the students' achievements.
It is an absolute must see - this exhibition full of inspiring works of an incredibly high standard. We are so proud to have our BBHS students included in this prestigious exhibition.
The Lismore Gallery exhibition will run until 21 April. After this, Juniper’s work will continue on to the Grafton Gallery.

First Nations Student Circle
Celebrating culture, connection, and new opportunities
On Friday 21 February, our First Nations students gathered for our first meeting of the year; celebrating culture, connection, and new opportunities. The group acknowledged the significance of First Nations peoples in Australia and warmly welcomed new students, particularly our Year 7s, into the community.
Reflecting on last year’s achievements, students discussed past events and strategies before setting fresh goals for 2025. A key focus for this year includes an exciting trip to Nuthunguli for a snorkeling experience, offering a chance to connect with Country and culture. We are seeking any and all community support that will enable us to attend the excursion.
The meeting was filled with a strong sense of pride, respect, and camaraderie, with students demonstrating deep appreciation for one another and their teachers.
A special thank you to Ms Lowe for her ongoing support and guidance, Mrs Oldfield for her assistance and Ms McGregor for her research and support of the Nuthunguli excursion. A special thanks also to Year 12 student leader, Ryan T for his recount of his Melbourne University immersion and encouragement of the junior students.
We look forward to another meaningful and successful year ahead!
