Welcome back to Year 4's blog! This week has been another exciting one...
On Monday, we hosted our very first class assembly of the year. Everyone spoke clearly and confidently, and they all did an amazing job!
In Geography, we have started a brand-new (and very exciting) topic all about volcanoes! We started learning about the four layers of the Earth: the crust, the mantle, the outer core, and the inner core. It has been fascinating to discover what each layer is made of and how they all fit together!
We then discovered how mountains are made. To try and understand how this happens, we turned ourselves into tectonic plate boundaries to make a volcanic, fault block and fold mountain!
The children then explored real life volcanoes and had some time to independently research volcanoes in the world that are currently active, dormant or extinct. They found this so fascinating!
Using our knowledge, we started a discussion about why people choose to live near or visit active volcanoes. We looked at some character cards from different people such as farmers, people who live there, emergency services and tourists.
On Thursday, children got to experience an interactive virtual reality sports session with HADO. They had so much fun!
Well done for another fantastic week, Year 4!
